The Department of Education, Bangalore University, hosted a one-day hands-on workshop titled "AI in Your Hands"- a mobile-based workshop for Prospective Teacher Educators, on 19th March 2026, conducted under the Flagship initiative of PM-USHA, in collaboration with Dr Ambedkar College of Education and St.Paul’s College of Education.
The program was presided over by Prof. Dr Jayakara S.M., Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Bangalore University, Bengaluru. Prof. V. Sudesh, Nodal Officer, PM-USHA, BUB, was the Guest of Honour. The workshop was coordinated by Dr Vanishree Koppad, Assistant Professor and Co-ordinator, Department of Education and Dr M. C. Yarriswamy, Professor and Dean, Department of Education. The organising committee members, Dr Shivanna V T, Principal, Dr.Ambedkar College of Education, Dr Rupa N T, Principal, St.Paul’s College of Education and the Guest Faculties of the department were present. Prof. K.T. Thiyagu, Associate Professor, Central University of Karnataka, served as the Resource Person for the workshop.
The workshop witnessed the active participation of M.Ed. students from various colleges, along with research scholars and faculty members, all aiming to enhance their technological competencies with a special focus on Artificial Intelligence in education.
The sessions emphasized practical pedagogical interventions through the use of mobile learning applications and AI-powered tools such as Google AR4D, AutoDraw, ElevenLabs, Google Notebook LM, Biblioshiny, lens.org, scan sequence google, groove pizza, ARloopa etc.
The practical demonstrations by the resource person captivated the inquisitive minds of the participants, stimulating curiosity and encouraging immediate application of the learned concepts. The highly engaging nature of the workshop fostered collaboration, inquiry, and hands-on learning among participants.
As reflection remarks, participants appreciated the hands-on approach for simplifying AI tools and enabling immediate application. They also highlighted the accessibility of these tools and expressed their intent to integrate them into their teaching and research practices.
The valedictory remarks were delivered by Dr. Vanishree Koppad, Assistant Professor and Co-ordinator, Department of Education, who expressed gratitude to the PM-USHA initiative, Bangalore University, Resource Person, Principals and faculties of the Collaborated colleges, Guest Faculties of the department, Research Scholars and all the Participants.

On 13 March 2026, Half-Yearly Ph.D Progress Report presentations were held in the Lecture Hall of the Department of Education, Bangalore University. Both full-time and part-time research scholars presented the progress of their research work for the half-year period July-December 2025. The presentations were witnessed by Dr. Vanishree Koppad, Asst Professor and Co-Ordinator, Department of Education, Dr. M C Yarriswamy, Professor and Dean, Department of Education, Dr. Narayanaswamy M, (Retd) Sr. Professor, Dr. Haseen Taj, (Retd) Professor, Guest faculties of the department and research scholars.
Following each presentation, interactive discussions were held to offer valuable suggestions and feedback to help refine the research work of respective research scholar.

The Ph.D Pre-submission colloquium of Mrs. Kavitha K R and Mr. Shashi Kumar B uder the guidance of Dr. Vanishree Koppad, Asst. Professor and Co-Ordinator, Department of Education, BUB was conducted on 12th March 2026 in the lecture hall, Department of Education, BUB. The presentations were attended by Dr. Vanishree Koppad, Assistant Professor and Coordinator, Department of Education, Dr. M. C. Yarriswamy, Professor and Dean, Department of Education, Dr. Narayanaswamy M, Retired Senior Professor, Dr. Haseen Taj, Retired Professor; along with guest faculty members and research scholars of the department.
Following the presentations, discussion sessions were held in which valuable suggestions and feedback were offered to further refine and strengthen the research work.

The Ph.D pre-submission colloquium of Mrs. Monisha K H, Research Scholar under the guidance of Dr. Haseen Taj, (Retd) Professor, Department of Education, BUB, was conducted on 10th March 2026 in the Lecture Hall, Department of
Education, BUB. The presentation was witnessed by Dr. Vanishree Koppad, Asst Professor and Co-Ordinator, Department of Education, Dr. M C Yarriswamy, Professor and Dean, Department of Education, Dr. Narayanaswamy M, (Retd) Sr. Professor, Dr. Haseen Taj, (Retd) Professor, Guest faculties and Research scholars of the department. Followed by the presentation, discussions were held to refine the research work.

The Ph.D Viva-voce examination of Mrs. Meenakshi G. was conducted on 19 February 2026 in the Department of Education, Bangalore University, Bengaluru. Dr. G. R. Angadi, Professor, HOD & Dean, Department of Education, School of Education & Training, Central University of Karnataka was the external examiner. The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of eminent educationists like Dr. M.S Talawar, Dr. Haseen Taj, Dr. Narayanaswamy M, retired professors of the Department of Education, Bangalore University, members of the public, guest faculties, and research scholars. After the researcher's successful presentation of thesis, the forum was open for discussion. Mrs. Meenakshi G. defended her thesis with commendable competence and clarity, addressing all the queries effectively. Upon satisfactory presentation by the researcher, the external examiner recommended the Bangalore University to award doctoral degree in education to Mrs. Meenakshi G.

On October 13th 2025, the 2023-25 batch of M.Ed. students came together for a joyous Teachers' Day celebration, showering their heartfelt gratitude to all the teachers. Through touching speeches, personalized tokens of appreciation, and lively performances, they honored the teachers' unwavering guidance and support.

On 5th February, the First and Second Year M.Ed students, along with research scholars from the Department of Education, Bangalore University, visited the Art of Living International Center, Bengaluru, as part of their M.Ed curriculum practical activity. A trained guide was arranged upon request to orient the students on the significance of Indic thought and the various activities carried out at the center.
During the visit, students explored the Gurukula School, Sri Sri Gaushala, Dhyana Mandira, and the main Meditation Hall. This was followed by a satvik meal. They were also introduced to stress-management practices such as yoga, meditation, and Sudarshan Kriya.
The visit to the ashram offered a holistic and enriching spiritual experience.

On January 28th, 2026, the second-year M.Ed. students graciously hosted a grand Freshers' Day event to welcome the first-year M.Ed students. The event was graced by eminent dignitaries, Prof. Jayakara S M, Vice chancellor, Bangalore university, Dr B K Ravi, Vice Chancellor, Bangalore North University, Dr. Chandrakanth S Karigar, Registrar Evaluation, Bangalore University, Mr. Gangaraju, Syndicate member, Bangalore University, Dr. Krishna P, Member academic council, Dr. K Sharifa, Syndicate member, Bangalore University. Prizes were duly distributed to the winners of various competitions held during the preceding Sports and Culture Day programs.

On 21st January 2026, II year M.Ed students organized Sports Day activities for I year M.Ed students as part of Freshers day celebration. Dr. P C Krishna Swamy, Dean faculty of Education, Principal of University College of Physical Education, was the chief guest of the event. Sir's enthusiasm, athletic outlook and charismatic nature, motivated the students to take part in all the sports activities enthusiastically.

On 20th January 2026, the II Year M.Ed students organized a series of cultural and literary activities for the I Year M.Ed students as part of the Freshers’ Day celebrations. Dr. Rashmi Prasad, Guest Faculty from the Department of Performing Arts and a renowned Bharatanatyam dancer and singer, along with Mrs. Nagamani, Research Scholar, a celebrated Bharatanatyam dancer, were invited as judges for the cultural competitions.
The students enthusiastically participated in various events such as Bhavageethe, Janapadageethe (folk song), Deshabhakthigeethe (patriotic song), Chalanachithrageethe (film song), and Ekapatraabhinaya (mono acting). In addition to the cultural performances, literary activities like Quiz and Pick-and-Speak were also conducted, encouraging active participation and interaction among the students.

On 19th January 2026, Department of Education vibrantly celebrated "Suggi Sambhrama", a heartfelt gratitude to mother earth. MEd students cascaded the garlands of fresh blossom, harvest and rhythmic folk melodies to offer profound gratitude to the nature and our rich Indian culture. Dr. B K Ravi, Vice Chancellor, Bangalore North University graced the occasion by adding an aura of inspiration. Prof.Somshekhar, Dean, faculty of Arts, Prof.P.CKrishnaswamy, Dean, faculty of Education, Prof. Nagarathnamma, History Dept, Prof.Sudha Kokate, Dept of Sociology, Prof Parvathamma, Dept of Economics, adorned the celebrations and honoured the festivities.
