It was another wonderful evening at Kalasindhu as senior disciple of Guru Poornima Gururaja, K*m. Phalguni Acharya presented her rangarpaNe yesterday at ADA rangamandira. The evening began with a pushpanjali in Aarabhi raga followed by Hanuman Kavitvam in Raga Thodi. Phalguni performed the pieces with both gusto and grace looking elegant on a well decorated stage. She then performed Parvataraja kumari a Diksh*tar kriti which is mandatory in Kalasindhu margams given our bani and parampara. Phalguni danced to it very well enacting both the role of Shiva and Parvati aptly with neat mudras and postures. Main piece of the evening was the Reethi Gowla varna, A very popular, catchy and lengthy Varnam which was very well executed by the disciple displaying amazing energy and grace both. The nattuvangam stood out for its attractive jathis and its choreography bringing spontaneous applause from audience many times. Beautiful Story of Lord Krishna unfolded so well in Phalguni's neat Nritta , Natya and Abhinaya.The Varnam was followed by a Javali which depicted the Shringara rasa which was very well brought out by the dancer depicting her Guru's adept training in imparting Abhinaya techniques to her disciples.For the first time, a marathi Abhang was incorporated in our dance school margam. It was beautifully choreopraphed and much evoked the Bhakti rasa amongst the audience.
A beautiful Madhyamavathi thillana followed after this concluding with a mangalam. All thro out the margam the dancer was was brilliantly supported by the orchestra comprising of Guru Poornima Gururaja on Nattuvangam, Vid Rohith Bhat Uppur on Vocal, Vid Karnataka Kalashree G Gurumurthy on mridangam , Vid Mahesha Swamy on Flute and Vid. Hemanth K*mar on Violin. The event was very well compered by Vid Roopashree Madhusudhan.
The event unfolded in the august presence of the chief guests for the evening - Acharya Raghavendra Prabhat, Vid. Shakunthala Prabhat, and Sri Ravikiran (Transcend Institutions) and cine star Smt. Girija Lokesh. They remarked how maturedly the disciple showcased her many years of Bharatanatyam learning with her Guru and praised the Guru and disciple for an excellent display of guru shishya parampara and wished Phalguni a very bright future in dance.
In all a great evening of fantastic dance and music which left the audience and guests extremely delighted. A complete Rasaanubhava. Heartiest congratulations to Guru and Shishye on this milestone!
