As part of the academic curriculum, the 3rd-year B.Pharm students of Al-Ameen College of Pharmacy, Bangalore, undertook an Industrial visit to Woundcare Pvt. Ltd., Doddaballapur, on 12th and 13th August 2026.
Fibroheal Woundcare Pvt. Ltd. is a research- and technology-driven biotechnology and healthcare company specializing in the innovative use of silk proteins as biomaterials for advanced wound care and wound healing. The company is among the few organizations globally exploring the non-textile biomedical applications of silk proteins. Through its indigenously developed and IP-protected technologies, Fibroheal develops innovative, effective and affordable solutions for the management of acute, chronic, non-healing, slow-healing and difficult-to-heal wounds. Its expertise integrates biomaterials science, pharmaceutical technology and biomedical engineering to develop next-generation wound care products.
The company has a dedicated in-house R&D facility and manufactures its range of wound care products in a state-of-the-art ISO 13485 and GMP-certified facility. With several flagship products, Fibroheal aims to provide comprehensive solutions across the entire wound-care continuum while meeting international standards and expanding its presence globally.
During the industrial visit, the students gained valuable first-hand exposure to the practical applications of pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences in an industrial setting. They had the opportunity to understand the application of silk proteins in wound healing, product development, manufacturing processes, quality systems, research and development and the translation of innovative biomaterial-based technologies into healthcare products. The visit effectively bridged the gap between classroom learning and industrial practice, while providing students with insights into innovation, entrepreneurship, research, regulatory compliance, and emerging career opportunities in the pharmaceutical and biomedical sectors.
The visit proved to be an enriching academic experience, inspiring the students to appreciate the importance of research, innovation, indigenous technology, and interdisciplinary approaches in developing affordable healthcare solutions for society.
