The Department of Pharmacy Practice, Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) & NSS of Al-Ameen College of Pharmacy, Bangalore observed "World Hypertension Day" with the theme “Controlling Hypertension Together!”. The programme was conducted as part of the global initiative to raise awareness about hypertension, its risk factors, prevention, early detection, lifestyle modification and the importance of treatment adherence in preventing complications associated with uncontrolled blood pressure.
As part of the World Hypertension Day observance, Pharm-D, Pharm-D (PB) & M.Pharm (Pharmacy Practice) students on 21st May 2026 carried out a community-based hypertension screening and awareness camp at Madiwala Market Road, Bangalore, targeting street vendors, shopkeepers, auto drivers and the general working population in the area. The location was specifically chosen considering the nature of work of the target population, who are often engaged in prolonged working hours, irregular food habits, stress, limited physical activity, and lifestyle factors that may increase the risk of hypertension. Blood pressure monitoring was carried out for the participants and repeated measurements were taken for individuals found to have elevated blood pressure readings to ensure accuracy. Approximately 300 participants were screened, monitored, and counselled during the programme.
Earlier on 17th May students shared information on various social media platforms to educate the public regarding hypertension, its causes, risk factors, warning signs, lifestyle modifications, dietary recommendations, medication adherence and preventive measures.

Our M.Pharm students Ms. Rachitha S.V., Ms. Neeraja Priya, and Mr. Shashank R secured the 3rd prize in a State-Level Quiz Competition conducted by Al-Ameen Arts, Science and Commerce College on 5th May 2026. The quiz was organized as part of a one-day seminar on ‘Gandhiji and the Youth of Today. The winners were awarded a memento, a cash prize and certificates.

We are delighted to inform that Ms. SHUBHASHINI J, a 2nd M.Pharm student, has been awarded a Research Grant of ₹1,00,000/- (Rupees ONE LAKH) by the Karnataka State Pharmacy Council, Bengaluru for her research project of one year duration.

Happy to inform that Ms. AASIYA S, a 2nd M.Pharm student has WON the BEST ORAL PRESENTATION AWARD for the paper entitled “Transungual Delivery of Apremilast via Microemulsion System” at the VIRTUAL POSTER SHOWCASE - 2026, organized by SIMATS College of Pharmacy, Chennai, jointly with The Indian Pharmaceutical Association and IPA Tamil Nadu State Branch, held from 6th to 10th April 2026. She received a Cash Prize of Rs. 2,500/- and certificate.

Ugadi Celebrations at Al-Ameen College of Pharmacy, Bangalore.
The festival of Ugadi was joyfully celebrated at Al-Ameen College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru, by the teaching and non-teaching staff members on 11th April - 2026.
Ugadi, marking the beginning of the Hindu lunisolar New Year, is celebrated with great fervor in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, and Goa. The same auspicious occasion is observed as Gudi Padwa in regions such as Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and the Union Territories of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
Reflecting the true spirit of unity in diversity that defines our institution, faculty members and students from various regions and cultural backgrounds came together to celebrate this vibrant festival with great enthusiasm. The celebration was marked by everyone adorning traditional attire and enjoying a delightful spread of festive delicacies, making the occasion truly colorful, joyous, and memorable.

The 1st year M.Pharm students visited Sami-Sabinsa Group Ltd (Formerly Known as Sami Labs Limited), Bengaluru, on 6th April 2026 as part of their Pharmaceutical Industrial Visit.
Sami-Sabinsa Group, a pioneer and global leader in health science, is renowned for its extensive contributions to nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals, standardized herbal extracts, fine and specialty chemicals, probiotics, and enzymes. The organization is widely recognized for its strong commitment to evidence-based research and its focus on delivering high-quality products to the nutritional, pharmaceutical and food industries.
During the industrial visit, our students were provided with an enriching learning experience, gaining valuable insights into various operational units of the organization. They had the opportunity to explore the Research and Development division, the production processes of standardized herbal extracts, and the manufacturing units dedicated to nutraceutical and cosmeceutical ingredients. This exposure significantly enhanced their understanding of industry practices, quality standards, and real-world applications of pharmaceutical sciences.
We are grateful to Dr. Anju Majeed, Group Executive Chairperson, for granting permission and for her inspiring interaction with our scholars.
