Last week, students from Grades 6–11 explored Hindi through a range of activities, including poster and slogan writing, essays, debates, skits and role plays. The activities encouraged students to share their ideas and engage with themes ranging from family and culture to social media and the environment.

The week also brought opportunities to celebrate language through performance and collaboration. As part of the Hindi Diwas celebrations, the Hindi and Chinese Departments came together for a special assembly, where students not only celebrated Hindi but also explored the history and culture of China.

The celebration continued in the cafeteria, with a special menu and cultural displays adding to the occasion.
From creative expression in the classroom to performances, conversations and cultural exchange, Hindi Pakhwada was a celebration of language, learning and the diverse cultures that enrich our community.

We are delighted to welcome Mrs. Saraswathi (Anu) Iyer to TISB as Deputy Principal Operations and Pastoral Care for the Primary Years Programme.
Moving from the Silicon Valley of the United States to Bengaluru, India’s Silicon Valley, Ms. Anu brings with her a shared commitment to innovation, excellence and lifelong learning.
In her vision for the Primary Years Programme, she speaks about the importance of TISB’s ARCH values: Acceptance, Respect, Collaboration and Honesty; and creating a community where children feel accepted, respected and empowered to grow as curious learners, compassionate individuals and confident young people.

Ms. Anu Iyer invites our students, families and educators to bring these values to life every day as we continue to build a strong sense of belonging across our community.

We look forward to having Ms. Anu as part of the TISB community and to the experiences, learning and possibilities ahead.

This Ganesh Chaturthi, we celebrate the qualities that help young minds flourish: curiosity, empathy, courage and a love for learning.

At TISB, these qualities come alive in many ways. From Grade 5 students asking questions and exploring leadership through their Leadership Interview, to older students sharing stories and building connections with younger readers during our Buddy Reading experience, learning extends far beyond the classroom.

Our Primary Years students also represented TISB at the SASMO Olympiad, taking on new challenges and earning Bronze, Silver and Gold distinctions along the way.

Three different experiences, one shared journey: nurturing young learners who are curious, thoughtful, confident and ready to make a difference.

TISB’s Grade 5–11 boarding community took part in an interactive awareness session on 4 September, conducted as part of No Cotics, a youth-led initiative focused on substance-use awareness and prevention.

Through activities, quizzes and open discussions, students explored alcohol, ci******es and va**ng, along with the biology of addiction, genetic predisposition, the effects of substance use on the developing teenage brain, and the influence of peer pressure on decision-making.

The session concluded with a Think–Choose–Act reflection, encouraging students to identify a personal takeaway, a decision or boundary they wanted to maintain, and an action they could take going forward.

An engaging space for awareness, reflection and informed decision-making, the session encouraged students to think critically and make responsible choices.

As part of English Enrichment, students from Grades 8 and 9 experienced The Star, a stage adaptation of Satyajit Ray’s Patol Babu, Film Star, performed by Bangalore Little Theatre at TISB.

The live performance brought literature to life, allowing students to experience storytelling, character, humour and expression in a new way. The production also drew inspiration from the traditional performance art of Yakshagana.

The experience concluded with an engaging Q&A, where students asked questions and explored the creative choices behind the performance with the cast.

A sincere thank you to Bangalore Little Theatre for creating such an enriching experience for our students.

Behind every student at TISB are teachers who give so generously of themselves, sharing their knowledge with patience, passion, creativity, and care.

Learning at TISB also reaches far beyond the classroom. Our boarding parents, administrative teams, and support staff guide our students through their encouragement, kindness, and the example they set each day. Every member of staff plays a part in shaping the young people our students become.

Today, the students of TISB came together to celebrate the remarkable people who make their learning journey so meaningful.

Ten days of ideas, teamwork, testing and a mildly alarming number of presentation slides led to one final moment: the pitch.

Throughout the Career Labs Summer Residency, every student worked on an entrepreneurship project. They began by identifying problems, shaping solutions and understanding their customers. They tested assumptions, built minimum viable products, refined their business models and practised presenting their ideas with clarity.

On the final day, the student teams stepped before parents, mentors and judges to present the ventures they had built across the programme.

The pitches brought together everything they had learned: research, creativity, teamwork, financial thinking, storytelling and the courage to answer questions in real time.

Six teams received awards for their ideas and presentations. Their journey now continues through three months of mentorship from GradCircle’s network of industry experts, giving them the opportunity to develop their projects further beyond the residency.

The final day celebrated far more than the winning teams. It showed how much students can build when they are given a problem, a room full of peers, thoughtful mentors and enough time to keep improving.

The programme may have ended on 7 July. For several of these ideas, the real work has just begun.

Building a Better Future: Understanding the World’s Biggest Challenges

We were delighted to welcome Dr Saumik Paul, an expert in global development and economics from the University of Manchester, for an engaging and thought-provoking masterclass with our students.

The session explored some of the world’s most pressing challenges, including:

• Climate change
• Poverty and inequality
• Jobs and economic development
• Access to education
• Conflict and global development

Through real-world examples and interactive discussions, students were encouraged to share their perspectives, think critically, and connect global issues with current social, economic, and political developments.

The masterclass provided valuable insights into how research, policy, and collaboration can help create meaningful and lasting change. It also highlighted how studying subjects such as Economics, Politics, International Relations, and Sociology can empower young people to understand complex problems and contribute to solutions for a better future.

Celebrating the spirit of sport at TISB!

Ahead of National Sports Day, our PE Assembly explored the values that shape every great sportsperson: teamwork, perseverance, respect, fair play and the grace to embrace every result.

The celebrations continued across campus as students, along with the PE Department, hosted fun challenges for their peers and staff. Students, teachers and Admin staff alike could be seen kicking footballs, throwing balls into baskets, racing to complete the most skips in 30 seconds and holding steady through a plank competition. Our Senior Deputy Principal raised the bar by powering through 30 push-ups! 💪

Today, on National Sports Day, we celebrate the joy of movement, friendly competition and the laughter that brings our community together.

Leadership begins with the willingness to look closely at how we work, how we support people, and where we want to go next.

At I.lead.TISB 2026, held on 24 and 25 July, TISB’s leadership team came together for two days of reflection, learning and planning, facilitated by Dr. Bindu Hari.

Through conversations around the Trust Triangle, the Nine-Box Talent Grid, leadership standards and core leadership concepts, participants examined performance and potential, reflected on their own leadership practice, and identified areas for growth.

The sessions also gave teams space to turn reflection into action, setting goals for the year ahead and developing department action plans that will guide their work across the school.

Two days to think, question, learn and plan, with a shared focus on leading our people and our school with purpose.
