Different cultures. Different perspectives. One shared language — learning.

At the recently concluded AEE-APAC Conference in Bangkok, we had the opportunity to meet some truly inspiring experts and practitioners in experiential education.

We exchanged ideas, perspectives, experiences — and, of course, a few smiles along the way.

For us at AEL, these interactions are much more than networking. Working and learning with people from different cultures gives us a deeper understanding of how people communicate, collaborate, make decisions, respond to challenges and build relationships.

Experiential learning is ultimately about understanding human behaviour in context. And the more contexts we experience, the better we become at designing meaningful learning experiences.

That is why AEL believes in continuously updating, upgrading and challenging our own thinking. The world of learning is evolving, workplaces are changing, and human dynamics are becoming increasingly complex.

To stay relevant, we cannot simply keep doing what we have always done.

We need to keep learning too.

Our participation in global experiential learning communities helps us bring new perspectives, practices and ideas back into the experiences we design for students, leaders and organisations in India.

At AEL, we believe some of the most powerful learning happens when we step away from familiar surroundings and into environments that challenge us.

An outbound experience is not simply about adventure or being outdoors. It is about creating situations where people have to collaborate, communicate, make decisions, manage uncertainty and discover how they respond under pressure.

For us, global participation is not just about attending events. It is about observing, questioning, exchanging ideas, and bringing relevant global best practices back into our work in India.

What we show the world is not always the complete story of who we are.

In this experiential activity, participants created their own avatars using simple materials — giving shape to how they see themselves, how they are perceived, and the different layers of personality that exist beneath the visible.

The activity creates a space for reflection:
Who am I? What do I choose to show? What do others see? And where is the gap between the two?

Because experiential learning isn’t always about learning something new. Sometimes, it is about seeing ourselves differently.

Sometimes, learning begins when we stop trying to fit into a predefined role.

In this experiential activity, participants navigate a shared challenge where every individual matters. The ropes become more than a physical task — they create an opportunity to explore individuality, trust, communication, cooperation, and the role we choose to play within a group.

Because being part of a team doesn’t mean becoming the same.

It means understanding who you are, what you bring, and how your individuality contributes to something bigger than yourself.

Play Time — where four bodies learn to move as one.

Watch closely and this isn’t just a fun team race — it’s a live lesson in synchronized coordination. Each girl has to match her partner’s rhythm, sense the shift in balance ahead of her, and adjust her own movement in real time. No instructor is calling out the steps. The learning is happening in their bodies, through feel, not through explanation.

This is kinesthetic learning in its purest form — a principle central to experiential education. Some lessons simply cannot be taught through words. Balance, trust, and timing are understood only through the body, only by doing it wrong a few times before getting it right.

There’s also something quietly powerful happening here: interdependence. Each child’s success depends entirely on staying attuned to the people around her — a small, physical rehearsal for teamwork, patience, and shared responsibility.

AEL doesn’t choose scenery — it chooses terrain that tests you. Where gut, mind, and body stop performing and start actually learning. Step outside the routine, and let the wild do what no classroom ever could.
