Equipping parents for life - covid time and beyond
Our Homeschool program stays true to the Waldorf principles, allowing young children to develop their own true inner-self at thier own pace.
Waldorf Trained and experienced teachers interact with parents over indiviual weekly calls, sharing activity ideas and learning kits, to enable the parents to engage their child with ease supported by expert guidance.
It's gratifying to know we teachers could make a difference. Thank you Neha for sharing your experience 🙏
Early bed time determines the "quality" of the next day. However getting children to bed early is a growing challenge.
This particular parent was struggling with bedtime starting as late as 12am for her children.🥺
As part of our Homeschooling Program we worked closely with this parent to ensure their little children consistently get
- 11-12 hrs of sleep each day and
- get to bed no later than 8:00pm /8:30pm
Now the parent and children are rejuvenated for the next day - like never before!!! 😀
The children explore and learn wholeheartedly each day and the parent has to deal with no tantrums and frustrations.❤️
We adults know a lot and want to share it with our children. With all good intentions of course, however it can get overwhelming for them to receive so much information each day
As part of our Homeschooling program we suggest parents to try practicing *Silence and being present*
The rest happens with our indications to build a *strong daily rhythm and being a good role model*
Storytime at InBloom is a very special part of each day.
The story is "told" by the teacher, who has internalized it. This make the story real for the children.
The puppets are handmade with minimal details. This allows the children add to the story from thier imagination as well.
In contrast to the usual loud and overwhelming way of storytelling, a soft, soothing and quiet mood is set. We dim the lights, draw the curtains and light a candle.
The littlest children quieten on thier own and get ready to sit and listen. Their language skills develop astoundingly too!
Making the most of the rains.
Carefree puddle jumping!!
Free, imaginative play is the core of a Waldorf early childhood education.
Children develop social skills as they negotiate and listen to each other.
They become resilient as they deal with frustrations, when play does not go as planned or when a peer adds a detail that they didn't think belonged.
They practice language and creativity.
Fine and gross motor skills are used when they work with small and big play things.
They do not need worksheets and drill-and-practice exercises to be ready for first grade. They need to use the critical period of early childhood to develop the executive function and social-emotional skills through joyful free play. This will serve them well when they enter an academic environment.
As the wonderful Norwegian saying goes - "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing."
We at InBloom completely agree 😀
The health of the children is our priority. So is their learning and development.
We spend sometime outdoors each season with the right clothing to experience and learn about nature.
A rainy outdoor time is then followed by a warm water footwash to bring back warmth to our little ones.
Wet-on-wet watercolor painting is an introduction to the wonderful world of colors for the young child.
There are many ways to paint, but wet-on-wet watercolor is a dreamy, fluid, mostly formless painting method that allows the painter to fully experience colors.
It's perfect for the process-oriented kindergarten age child.
It is recommended to begin with just one color, so the child gets comfortable with the technique. More colours can be introduced consequently.
You’d be surprised at how enchanting it can be to paint with just one color!
It is totally meditative!!
It's finally happened! It is safe for children to go to school

Making Diwali greeting cards can be age-appropriate yet sparkling fun.
Oh the joys of creating something together!
**Diwali Joy**
Diya painting and singing by our Homeschooling parents and children.
When children take part in "real work" with adults, they their self-esteem is boosted.
A wonderful way to prepare for the festival and beyond....
Good Clean Fun: Diwali Cleaning with our Homeschool Children
This is a great opportunity to model an ideal approach and attitude towards cleaning.
Young children learn by example, and they will internalize what they observe you doing. If they see you become angry or frustrated while cleaning, or treat it as a tedious chore that should be put off until the last minute and then rushed through as quickly as possible, that will give your children a negative association with housekeeping tasks.
Yet if you treat cleaning as a reverent and joyful activity--a celebration of gratitude--your children will believe it to be so, and will carry that with them throughout their lives.
For the month of Dussehra, as part of our homeschool program we suggested several celebration and craft ideas, for children to experience the festival and the reverential mood.
Here are pictures of one of our Homeschooling family offering thanks for all the things that help with work and play - from mummy's ghungroos to papa's diaries to the children's storybooks and wooden peg dolls :)
They also adorned their home with lamps and rangoli sent in our monthly kit and loving made with the children
At InBloom, we celebrate festivals from a ‘nature and culture’ perspective than a religious one, to instill ancient wisdoms in young children.
For the month of Dussehra, as part of our homeschool program we suggested some simple cultural ideas for children to experience our natural elements.
It is best if parents refrain from discussing the following with their children to ensure joyful encounters.
* Earth element - Sow seeds / navdhanya
* Fire element - Do Aarti
* Air element - Blow the counch
* Water element - Apply alta / mehendi
***A place for everything and Everything in its place***
A simple, neat, organized toyshelf promotes in young children a clutter-free mind and great many ideas for freeplay and self-expression
Here we can see toyshelves from the homes of InBloom Homeschooling families.
"Less" toys leads to "More" creative play.
Unfortunately most children have way too many toys than they need. This confuses them. They pull out everything at playtime and land up playing with not much. Clean-up time is challenging too.
It's best to have few open-ended toys i.e. toys that are "open" to many possibilities and the child can use them differently depending on his / her play that day.
A set of blocks, animal figures, simple dolls, sticks, pebbles, kitchen toys and few scarves is enough for hours of self-directed creative freeplay.
It's so gratifying to know that the InBloom Homeschool Program is making a difference in the lives of little children and thier families.
Thank you Menaka and Jayant for being a part of the InBloom community
****Splash in Muddy Puddles and have a great time for a strong, healthy body!******
Children play with joy in puddles and it outlets their energy and stress. Each jump and splash develops their motor skills so one day they can run off to start their own adventures.
Letting kids jump in a puddle is a vital step toward building a healthy immune system. Right from birth, the body rapidly begins creating defenses for all things it will come into contact with. Each time children are exposed to daily germs, such as reasonable dirty and muddy surfaces, their immune system gets to work, essentially creating the codes to fight off illnesses.
They need to fight germs with a fever, throw up to rid their stomachs of harmful contaminants and cough to remove germs trapped in their phlegm in their airways.
Each jump in the puddle is a chance for your child to grow. A chance for their legs to get stronger. An opportunity for their brains to learn coordination. A chance for their bodies to learn to fight off the germs in their own backyards.
Look past the mess for a few minutes, and think of the potential for their bodies to thrive.
*****Walk on a drizzly day****
Taking a stroll on rainy days soothes the mind, body and soul.
Rainy days are the best to enjoy the peace, quiet walks with little ones, as the air is cleaner and fresher and the smell of rain is rejuvinating.
Few quick tips to get the most from walks in the rain:
- Grab an umbrella or wear a jacket with a hood to keep your head from getting wet.
- Wear waterproof shoes or gumboots to avoid soggy feet
- Opt for a rain coat to avoid getting wet.
- Be sure to thoroughly dry off after the rain adventure and maybe even warm foot wash.
- Choose the right size of footwear so it’s comfortable all through their walk
Little children believe "The world is one family, with no borders" i.e. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam in Sanskrit. As adults we need to re-learn this!
However we can introduce the tri-color in fun ways like clothes we wear, food we eat and things in nature and simple crafts.
Happy Independence Day!

****Make Traditions Sustainable****
Hand-made & biodegradable seed rakhis can help us celebrate Rakshabandhan in the truly sustainable manner, since the rakhi can be grown into a plant
“If it can’t be reduced, reused, repaired, rebuilt, refurbished, refinished, resold, recycled, or composted, then it should be restricted, re-designed or removed from production,” said not an environmentalist but a singer, Pete Seeger.
This year, *****tie a rakhi to your brother and to our planet*****.
Reduce single-use garbage and pollution.
*****Reading session with our homeschooling parents****
It's a great pleasure to listen to each ones perspective on various topics. It deepened the understanding on different phases of childhood, as parents shared their experiences.
As Parents and teachers the learning never ends.
Here is a glimpse of our August homeschool learning kit.
It includes seeds for gardening, yarn for handwork, ideas for enjoying the monsoon, celebrating onam, independence day, rakhshabadhan and janmastami. It also has related songs, stories and much more!
Our monthly Learning Kit, has activities specific to the season, so little minds can learn in accordance to the rhythms of nature.
