Have been wanting to do a Tamil voice over for a story for a very long time now! I think I was probably waiting for the right story to come to me. Happened to find a few books to my liking when I visited the Erode Puthaga Thiruvizha last year. Simple and thought provoking writing. Picture books that even adults will love. ( I always believe picture books are more for adults 😊)
Have become a fan of Mr.UdayaShankar's writings.
Listen to this beautiful story by sir titled " Amma yenge". I love to engage with my listeners post the story and this books gives numerous ways in which we can do that .This story is sure to touch a chord for everyone who listens to it or reads it. The apt illustration by U.Navina adds beautiful layers.
Listen on to "Amma yenge" and let me know your thoughts.

In the quiet beginning of a World Storytelling Day, there was but a vision
a Talescope…..
to see life clearly through the stories we carry.
Years have turned, like pages touched by time,
and in their turning,
voices gathered
of children with wonder in their eyes,
of elders with wisdom in their words,
and many hearts with songs in between.
Across lands and luminous stages,
through the living pulse of Villupaatu,
the devotion of Harikatha,
and the eternal flow of the Ramayana and Mahabharatha,
stories became prayer,
movement,
and a memory.
What was once mine
has long become ours.
For every listener, every seeker, every believer...
you are the thread and the tapestry.
As the thirteenth year dawns,
I stand in gratitude
for the journey,
for the art,
for you.
The stories continue
to breathe,to bind,to become.
Love,
Lavanya Prasad.

A Tree - A Tale - and A thousand hearts.
To be given the honour of planting a tree in a school’s soil — to mark my visit — moved me deeply.
🌿 One, because I was considered worthy of planting a sapling.
🌿 Two, because they meant it when they said, “We’d like to remember what you’ve given to our children.”
🌿 And three, because in that small act, I felt I had contributed a tiny drop to this vast universe.
It wasn’t my idea, but it has inspired me to do more. I remembered my father, who once planted saplings along our street in Coimbatore — trees that now stand tall, giving shade to many in the scorching sun. He’s long gone, but every passerby who rests under their branches unknowingly thanks him.
My visit to Bangarpet and KGF this time for a story session organized by BEML was nothing short of magic. The magic of what stories can do to children — and the wonder of how beautifully they absorb and live those lessons.
When the children stood up, whistling, clapping, calling out my name, saying “Thank you!” — I was moved to tears. ❤️.
And then it struck me — it wasn’t me.
It was the story.
The story was the true gift that touched their hearts, just as it touched mine.
Deep gratitude to organizations like BEML , who believe that Vigilance is a shared responsibility, and who reach the hearts of young minds through the magic of storytelling.
Thanks to Jain International School, Bangarpet ; Kendriya Vidhyalaya and BEML school KGF. 🙏
To have played even a small part in this journey feels absolutely fulfilling. 🌸

Thank you for inviting Talescope to share the magic of storytelling with your children and parents. When schools show deep interest and invest in Storytelling, you know they are serious about the overall development of their children. Kudos on the journey of giving your children a wholesome, holistic experience through storytelling. My storyteller heart is brimming with joy after interacting with your enthusiastic students. Looking forward to more such experiences.

Between a haiku's pause, a story unfolds.....
I’ve long admired — her warmth, sensitivity, and the quiet magic that shines through her haiku. When she invited me to collaborate on a haiku reading that blends poetry with storytelling, I was thrilled! ✨
In this unique event, poets share their haiku, and I bring one from each poet to life through story — experimenting with form, emotion, and imagination. The process has been an exciting, creative challenge — stretching perspectives and deepening our connection to the art of words.
Join us for an evening where poetry meets performance, and stories unfold between the lines.
We promise you an evening of absolute joy, creative discovery, and deep reflection. 🌿
A continuation of this will be a specialized haiku workshop on the 15th and the 16th of November, for people who wish to learn the art from Kala. Details of which will be available in , a space that keeps its doors open to artists of any form to explore, experiment , envision and engage the lovers of art. Thank you AG.

🕉️ The only temple in India where three Nandis sit facing Lord Shiva — each watching over time itself: the past, present & future.
Majestic. Loyal. Eternal.
That’s the word that comes to mind when you first see Him — Nandi.
Right opposite the sanctum sanctorum, He sits — still, powerful, and ever-devoted — in deep meditation, eyes fixed upon His Lord, Shiva.
But in Virupaksha Temple, Hampi, something caught my attention…
There weren’t one, but three Nandis facing the Lord!
and that got the storyteller in me curious.
Before I tell you what I discovered, here’s a story you must know 👇
Long ago, Sage Shilada prayed to Lord Shiva for a son blessed with divine wisdom. From the sacred fire (some say from the sage’s own sweat) emerged a radiant child — Nandi.
By the age of seven, Nandi had mastered all scriptures. But Sage Shilada’s joy was short-lived — Lord Varuna revealed that the boy’s life would end before he turned eight.Hearing this, little Nandi comforted his father, saying, “There is nothing my Lord Shiva cannot change.” He went into deep meditation — and Shiva, moved by his devotion, appeared before him. Granting him immortality, Shiva made Nandi his vahana (vehicle), gatekeeper, and the leader of his ganas. It is believed he gave him the form of a bull too.
From that moment on, Nandi was inseparable from Shiva — a symbol of loyalty, faith and surrender.
As children, many of us whispered our wishes into Nandi’s ear, believing that if Nandi carried it to Shiva, the Lord would never refuse. 🙂
Coming back to Hampi — the three Nandis of Virupaksha Temple are believed to represent the Past, Present, and Future.Interestingly, near the gopuram, there’s also a three-headed Nandi, carrying the same symbolism. Truly, nowhere else in India will you see this sacred trio together, an eternal vigilance of time itself.
Bonus tale: Once, the mighty Ravana mocked Nandi’s appearance, comparing his face to that of monkey. His arrogance earned him a curse from Nandi that a monkey will be responsible for Lanka's destruction. See the connection?
Our temples aren’t just stone and sculpture — they’re stories in silence.
