Dear Students and Parents
On behalf of Stephen's College of Film Music, we congratulate Akash Mayya for successfully completing the "Advanced Tonal Dictation" course with flying colors. He secured distinction by scoring 90/100. He is my youngest and most dedicated and devoted student.

It is a wonderful course designed by Professor Thomas L Durham for the Juilliard School of Music Newyork USA undergraduate program.

The book covers all the chord progression with inversions in all the keys, modulations to the nearly related keys, secondary dominants, diminished sevenths and secondary diminished sevenths, neopolitan 6th chords, Italian 6th, French 6th and German 6th chords. A very methodic approach to help an aspiring student to master the Aural skills - seeing the notes and chords through ears or listening and writing.

I really appreciate his father and mother (both are doctors by profession) for their wonderful support and encouragement. They both are taking utmost care in providing and arranging a proper music education to their son. Akash is also very interested in learning, not only piano but also the compositional techniques and the science behind the divine art of arranging and orchestration.

He is just 13 years old, and for his age, he has achieved the advanced level of musical notes and chords Transcription technique (listening and writing), which is a unique blessing bestowed upon him by the Almighty God.

He is also studying first year Harmony with me. In three months, he will be completing the first year Harmony course as well. He is also studying 7th grade theory of music and 7th grade piano with me.

In this age of computers and AI, Akash is inclined towards learning real and good music. I am really glad that his parents also have the same intentions of making their son get first-hand knowledge of traditional music.

Once again, I congratulate Akash Mayya for a fantastic achievement.

Hi Everyone

Dear Students and Parents
On behalf of Stephen's College of Film Music, we congratulate Basanth G Prasad for successfully completing 3rd year degree in Film Music offered at our college, securing highest marks - Distinction.
He has secured distinction continuously from.1st year. Now, he is in the 4th and the final year of degree in Film Music.

Most of the youngsters of this generation (Gen z) are learning music from watching YouTube tutorials.
And the worst part is that they think they can become music composers in just a year. They don't want to learn music in a formal way like the legendary music composers of the world. Instead, they look out for shortcuts to learn music. In reality, it is not possible.

Similar to engineering, medical, administration, and other studies, music too should be learned in a properly disciplined environment. Ònly then a musician can contribute enormously to the world of music.

If we carefully observe and study the legends of the South Indian film industry, Bollywood and Hollywood, we come across many proven music composers with degrees in music from reputed universities, conservatories and also from great teachers.

Basanth is very clear in his mind and understands the value of good music education. He knows the fact that, to become a music composer and to achieve and accomplish goals in music, a proper music education is required. I really appreciate his mother, Savithakka, and his father, Ganesh Prasad, for supporting and providing everything needed for Basanth's music education. I also appreciate them both for the enormous trust they have in me.

Basanth is very consistent, dedicated, and devoted to learning. As a teacher, I can only guide Basanth by imparting a good education in music. The rest is left to Basanth to continue his dedication and devotion. Only his resilience and perseverance towards learning music will bring him the blessings from the God almighty and Sharadambe.

I wish him all the very best, and May God be with him in his journey of music. 🌹🌹❤️
