Today we came across this article https://epaper.timesgroup.com/Olive/ODN/MumbaiMirror/shared/ShowArticle.aspx?doc=BGMIR%2F2018%2F06%2F06&entity=Ar00400&sk=BDED2E54&mode=text and this is something we very strongly feel and care about.

On a bit of research, we found two previous articles on the same case:
1) https://bangaloremirror.indiatimes.com/bangalore/others/internship-vtu-vice-chancellor-h-maheshappa-balaveera-reddy-semesters-engineering-skills-/articleshow/38933360.cms
2) https://bangaloremirror.indiatimes.com/bangalore/others/3-internships-mandatory-for-engineering-students/articleshow/59992146.cms

It is sad that VTU is least interested in the correct implementation of the rules mandated by AICTE/MHRD.

The students of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) are protesting for a change in the university’s rules regarding the internship. The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has made it mandatory for students to do an internship as part of their engineering degree. VTU allows for one month to this end. However, most industry internships are for a minimum period of three months.

VTU wants the internship in installments - But students say no companies allow students to work on and off for 90 days when getting an internship itself is tough.

Without the requisite time, many have resorted to shady shops that provide fake internship experience certificates. This has created the market for easy alternatives. They pay between Rs 8,000 and Rs 10,000. These programmes run for four weeks, which is not enough to actually learn something well and implement it.

Please help VTU students by showing your support by signing and sharing this petition https://www.change.org/p/visvesvaraya-technological-university-stop-playing-with-our-future-allow-vtu-students-3-months-off-for-internships

WE URGE NEW STUDENTS WHO PLAN TO JOIN VTU FROM AUG 2018 TO PLEASE TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION AND, IF REQUIRED, LOOK FOR OTHER UNIVERSITY ALTERNATIVES.
