Question: Two bodies were thrown simultaneously from the same point : one, straight up and the other , at an angle Ɵ to the horizontal where Ɵ = 600. The initial velocity of each body is v0 = 25 m/s. Neglecting air drag, find the distance between the bodies at t = 1.70 secs later.
A) 22 m
B) 23 m
C) 24 m
D) 25 m

Solution of previous question:

If M be the mass of the rope then M/L is its mass per unit length
and if T be the tension in the rope at a distance x from the end where the force F is applied and a be the acceleration produced in the rope then
F – T = (Ml/L)a
and T = (M/L)(L-l)a
so a = TL/M(L-l).
Therefore, F – T = (M/L)l x TL/M(L-l)
Or F = T[1 + l/(L-l)] or T = (L-l)/L x F = (1 – l/L)F
correct option : ( b )
