In the psychology program this year, children learned the basics of defense mechanisms. They learned how anger, phobias, stereotypes, and personality disorders may act as defense mechanisms and carry a functional value in the person’s life. We talked about how anger helps someone mask their fears, how stereotypes may give a sense of comfort and identity to someone, how imposter syndrome may lead to agoraphobia in someone, and how a narcissist may actually be hiding his fragile self behind arrogance. Children learned how our personalities, fears, thoughts, and goals affect our parenting skills. For the final project, children had to give a few parenting tips to adults around!

It’s that time of the year again!!
I love teaching. And I really love teaching psychology. And I really really love teaching psychology to teens.
This program means a lot to me. It gives me a chance to work with the brilliant minds who are sailing through the deep waters of adolescence. We talk about Freud, anger, projection, narcissism, stereotypes and empathy in the same breath. Role plays and simple social experiments are the most fun. The program covers various aspects: theories of psychoanalysis, theories of personality development, case discussions, mood psychology,, relationship regulation, psychology of empathy and stereotypes, emotional strength training etc.
I’ve seen kids learning a few things here and there. I’ve seen myself learning a lot more from these kids. I cannot emphasise enough how awesome these teens are and we need to first break ourselves free from the prison of those stereotyping thoughts.

and go way back!! I have such a deep sense of respect for the school. They are a fabulous team of passionate, caring, very knowledgeable, and such organised educators. It was an honour to have been invited to their branch to address the parents and kids on their annual day function. 😊
Judith ma’am is a beautiful soul who loves and respects each student, each teacher, each parent, and each support staff.
I hope to cherish this deeply-gratifying bond with LittleElly for years to come. ❤️
