English is a funny language, Kate starts with K and the sound is kh, well cat starts with letter c and yet has a Kh sound. Well champagne starts with a C but sound begins with a sh. Write starts with a W but read with an R, where did the W vanish. …. My My My what's this why cant they spell the way they pronounce because English is Funny Language. Na na na I don’t agree because I love English and I know the Magic and what's that ------ Listen, Listen, Listen, Listen.. Hmmm what's all this fuss about listening I am always listening. Children have been at home for nearly 2years and attending online classes. They have been feeling lonely behind the camera and gave into the many distractions of the digital world.
Now that they are back to offline sessions there is a huge challenge of adjusting to the real world outside of the comfort of the chairs/beds. Are we only facing physically adjusting to a routine, well that does'nt seem as challenging as getting mentally fit to reframe their minds from the lonely soul to the social set up. The first reaction to being in school is a great feeling as meeting friends after a gap of 2years is bliss. However, focussing on the lessons taught in the physical class room, attending exams offline needs a lot of support and understanding from the teachers, parents, family and friends. Support doesn't stop at buying uniform, books, new bag, tiffin's etc. it needs to extend to bonding with the child to understand the conflicts of the mind. For eg. the child goes to school with confidence saying "I have studied and know the subject," and after returning "I thought I knew but it turned out that I couldnt connect to the questions." Its a huge message of the gap between online and offline classes.
Not to pass a jibe at the child with a I told you club answer. Help the child by finding out what were the gaps in knowing and executing and accordingly facilitate the childs learning environment. Dont compare and add pressure to the childs life. At the same time the child comes with its own DNA therefore dont force the child to do things that you think is the right way of doing. Be aware when there is conflict between you and the child while studying and learn to negotiate. Play the role of facilitator than trying to realise your dream, the child is an individual with a personality. Therefore, you need to keep telling yourself that you are a facilitator and not a dictator. In the rat race of life parents need to learn to listen not only to the banter of the child but also the subtle body language. spend a lot of time in reflection and don't say I am busy and I have no time. Each one of us are given 24hrs, with the same resources and its your choice on what you want to spend time with. Thus Make time for the children.
