What do you expect on day one at a B-school? A welcome speech. A campus tour. Ice-breakers.
Maybe your first class by the end of the week.
At Scaler School of Business, day one opened with a P&L
Day one. Students walked in expecting orientation. Instead, teams were negotiating procurement prices with Kiran Shah, the founder of Go Zero for actual ice cream. Then they hit the streets of Bangalore and sold it to strangers.
Some teams cleaned out. Some struggled. Everyone came back for a P&L debrief on their own numbers.
That was before lunch.
The rest of day one was abhimanyu saxena, co-founder of SCALER on what it actually takes to build a company that outlasts its first hard year. Then Abhinav Ankur, CBO of Snabbit, on what it looks like to run a business doing over 1 lakh home service jobs a day.
Day two started with Shantanu Deshpande walking onto campus. The founder who built Bombay Shaving Company to ₹1000 crore. The one who took on Gillette in India and didn't lose.
Then came the Indian Startup Relay 21 Indian startups hidden across the new campus, each placed at a spot that matched what the company actually does. Figuring out the clues was also the fastest way to realise how big the new campus really is.
Two years of an MBA teach you what business is.
Two days at SSB show you what it feels like to operate one.
Cohort 3 already knows what they signed up for.
Welcome to the campus.
