We have successfully concluded the JEOL NMR Workshop held at CNMS, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) on 3rd March 2026.

The day-long program brought together researchers, faculty members, and students for an engaging discussion on the capabilities and applications of modern NMR spectroscopy. The presentations delivered by Yusuke Nishiyama and Srinivasa L Poojary from JEOL Ltd. provided valuable insights into both the fundamental principles and practical aspects of liquid-state and solid-state NMR spectroscopy. The workshop also offered participants an excellent opportunity to interact with experts and discuss experimental challenges, and gain practical perspectives on NMR data analysis.

We thank the speakers, participants, and the JEOL team for making this workshop an informative and highly engaging event.

Our instrumentation facility houses a state-of-the-art JEOL 400 MHz NMR Spectrometer (Model: JNM-ECZL400R), which supports both liquid- and solid-state NMR applications. Established with the support of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India (DST-FIST) and JAIN Deemed-to-be University the facility serves as a hub for advanced molecular and material analysis for researchers from academia and industry.

Programmable Motion of an Enzyme-Powered Macroscale Gel Boat: A Functional Sensing Platform 11/09/2025

Publication Alert! Dr. Maity and his student Vinay Ambekar from CNMS, JAIN Deemed-to-be University published a research article "Programmable Motion of an Enzyme-Powered Macroscale Gel Boat: A Functional Sensing Platform." in Materials Horizons Journal.

This work gives insight on how to control the erratic motion of an enzyme-powered hydrogel macroscopic gel boat at air/water interface. Nevertheless, the structural remodeling of the boat as well as the working system configuration can permit directed, controlled, turn, bi-directional, rotation and run-and-tumble-like motion. We believe that the advancement of intelligent soft material machines are foreseen to pave the way for various applications in present-day technology, ranging from biotechnology to material sciences. intelligent soft material machines are foreseen to pave the way for various applications in present-day technology, ranging from biotechnology to material sciences.
