Introducing Aruna Raman founding partner and Director of Innovation at ILK Consultancy, a startup focused on innovation-related coursework, programming, study abroad programs, fellowships and research.
A little brief of Aruna's education and life.
Aruna earned a Master of International Development degree at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh, in 2010.
At the grand young age of 41, she will be embarking on yet another academic adventure-starting a PhD in Comparative and International Development Education at the University of Minnesota. For the first time in many years, Aruna will be a student, and on the other side of the fence!
Professionally, the PhD is a significant step to make ILK more competitive and set us apart from the run of the mill experiential learning organisation, says Aruna.
When asked about a hero in her life she says, she isn't a big fan of picking one hero. She adds, "My parents are pretty heroic in rolling with the punches of life, and still retaining their sense of humour. Fred Rose from the University of Minnesota - I owe him every professional success and a lot of my personal triumphs."
A funny incident Aruna narrates was when she put her palm under the needle of my grandmother's sewing machine and ran it, and wondered how white thread turned to red (this was her blood).
Aruna cheerfully describes ILK as 'unfettered, with room and opportunity to grow.'
