Have you figured it out?

Hey Guys,
This is the problem statement for the event DESIGN IT!! For those who are taking part in this event please have a look at it and start preparing for your event
Good Luck

Compact parking lot

Automobiles are an integral part of local and global communication. The last few decades has witnessed an exponential growth in their population. However, the infrastructural developments require to suit their growth has not been achieved in proportional limits. Parking has become a major concern in almost all big cities for both individual and authorities.

Compact Parking Lot is a design event aimed at realizing feasible solution for parking issues.

Objective: To design a Compact Parking Lot (CPL) within the specified dimensions and generate
a CAD model with brief description of the proposed concept.

Plot area for CPL: 40 X 60 (dimensions in ft.)

NOTE:
• The criterion for selection will be most efficient and practical concept that can house maximum number of automobiles (cars > bikes).
• There should be smooth flow of vehicles within the parking lot.
• The design should clearly specify the area reserved for each vehicle.
• The participants can use the concept of multilevel parking (maximum G+3 levels).
• Participants should only consider two and four wheeler.
• The plot cannot be positioned as a corner plot.
• The CPL should have separate entrance and exit and should lead to one way path without disturbing the on-road traffic.
• The description should specify the materials also.
• The participants are expected to describe the mechanisms considered along with the engineering principles.

• No hypothetical solutions will be considered.

Garbage Handling System

Garbage is an inevitable and an unwanted component of our ecosystem. However it is possible to make use of most of the stuff available in them. Reduce, reuse and recycle is a common phrase familiar to all of us. But, the extent of the above three terms depends upon how we segregate the trash in the garbage.

GHS is a design event aimed to bring out the creativity of the future technocrats to propose an efficient trash handling system that can make garbage handling a simpler task.

Objectives: To design a practical garbage handling system that can be used to segregate both
household (individual and apartments) and industrial garbage (hotels and banquet
halls).
NOTE:
• The design should be supported with description of the proposed concept.
• The system should segregate the garbage into minimum three categories.
• The design should also specify the specific disposal methods.
• The participants can use modelling software to simulate their ideas (OPTIONAL).
• No hypothetical ideas will be entertained.
• Use of existing concepts and copying ideas from the internet can lead to disqualification.

Smart Homes

“Home is where the heart is” but unfortunately living has become a challenge in today’s modern society. We are never satisfied with our homes and we would always love to have newer facilities at our doorsteps. Smart technologies are shaping the modern society in a way we never imagined and it would be excellent if we could transform our sweet homes into smart sweet homes.
Design it! Smart homes is a concept aimed to bring out the creativity in you and see how your ideas shape our imagination.

Objective: To design and propose smart home concepts for the given plot dimension.
Plot area – 30 X 40 (dimensions in ft.)
The participants should design with respect to the following considerations :
Mechanization of sump and over head tank cleaning.
Automatic gate and garage opening.
Auto parking systems.
Coupling of renewable energy systems.
Mechanisms for effective utilization of harvested rain water.
Automated house cleaning systems (Dry clothes retrieval systems, Auto floor mopping systems, etc.).
Autonomous temperature control systems.
Mechanical alarm systems.
Smart doors and windows.
NOTE:
• The design should be supported with description of the proposed concept.
• The participants can use modeling software to simulate their ideas (OPTIONAL)
• No hypothetical ideas will be entertained.
• Use of existing concepts and copying ideas from the internet can lead to disqualification.
