HAPPY HOLI TO EACH ONE OF YOU WHO'S SEEING THIS!💥✔🥰

History and Significance:

As per Hindu mythology, Holi originates from the saga of Hiranyakashyap, the demon king and his pious son Prahlad, who was an ardent follower of Lord Vishnu. The father-son represented good and evil, which is why Hiranyakashyap was displeased with him.

One day the demon king decided to incinerate Prahlad with the help of his sister, Holika. For the unversed, Holika was immune to fire. Hiranyakashyap came up with an idea to kill Prahlad with the help of fire. The next morning, Holika sat in the fire with Prahlad on his father’s orders. The fire however did not harm Prahlad and instead, engulfed Holika in flames.

Holi celebrates this victory of a worshipper of Lord Vishnu over the wicked King Hiranyakashyap and Holika.

Happy chhath puja! ✨

Chhath Puja is celebrated a few days after Diwali. The celebration for the four-day-long festival begins with Nahay Khay (the first day of Chhath Puja).

To celebrate Chhath Puja, women keep a nirjala fast of 36 hours. The festival is dedicated to the Sun God (Lord Surya) and Chhathi Maiya (the sister of the Sun God), who are worshipped on this day.

The first day of Chhath Puja is known as Nahaye Khaye. A bath is taken in the morning on the first day that is followed by wearing new clothes and praying. Next, devotees consume rice and gram dal as prasad.

The second day is called Chhath Kharna. On this day, kheer prasad, a pudding made of jaggery, is eaten at night. The pudding is made on an earthen stove. After offering arghya to the Sun God, women consume prasad and fast for 36 hours.

The third day is known as Sandhya Arghya. On this day women wear new clothes and go to the river or pond to offer arghya to the setting sun. The fast continues for the entire night of the third day. The Sandhya Arghya will be observed on November 10 this year.

The fourth and final day of Chhath is known as Usha Arghya. On this day fasting women offer arghya to the sun while standing in water. Women then break their 36 hours fast with prasad. This year, the Usha Arghya will be observed on November 11 this year. The sunrise and sunset timings varies according to the location.

According to mythology, Chhath Puja was performed by Goddess Sita on the day of the establishment of the kingdom of Lord Ram. The festival also has a reference in Mahabharata, when it was performed by Kunti, the mother of Pandava after they escaped Lakshagrih, the place which was razed to the ground.

!👬❤
Bhai Dooj, the final day of Diwali festivities, is celebrated on the second lunar day of Shukla Paksha in the Hindu calendar month of Kartika.

On this day that celebrates the bond between the siblings, sisters pray for their brothers' long lives by performing Tika ceremony and brothers give gifts to their sisters. Bhai Dooj is also known as Bhau Beej, Bhatra Dwitiya, Bhai Dwitiya and Bhathru Dwithiya.

The day is also known as Yama Dwitiya and is observed on Dwitiya Tithi during Kartik month. Bhai Dooj or Yama Dwitiya falls two days after Diwali. Yamraj, the lord of death, is worshipped on Yama Dwitiya along with Chitragupta and Yama-Doots, the subordinates of Lord Yamraj.

🙏

This year, the Diwitiya Tithi begins at 11:14 PM on November 5 and ends at 7:44 PM on November 6. The muhurat for the rituals is between 1:10 PM to 3:21 PM.

As per the legend, Yamraj’s sister Yamuna tried to get her brother to visit her on many occasions but Yamraj was unable to do so for a long time. When he finally met her, his sister organized a grand ceremony for him, offered sweets to him and placed tika on his forehead.

Extremely pleased with the love and respect he was showered with, Yamraj gave Yamuna a boon and she in turn asked him to dedicate a day on which he would visit her house each year. Hence, the ritual of siblings visiting each other on this day began to honour the kinship between them.

It is believed that sisters who feed their brothers on this auspicious day would be forever Saubhagyavati and eating at his sister's home bestows long life to brothers.
