child was a good student until Class 5. Why are they struggling now?
Many parents become worried when a child who once performed well starts finding studies difficult in Classes 8, 9 or 10.
The first question should not be:
βWhy has my child become weak?β
Instead, ask:
βWhat has changed?β
As children move to higher classes, the academic workload increases. Subjects become more complex, expectations increase, and students may face difficulties with study habits, understanding concepts, time management, confidence or academic pressure.
A drop in marks does not automatically mean that a child is lazy or incapable.
Before making a major educational decision, parents should try to understand the reason behind the change.
For some students, a more flexible educational pathway such as NIOS may be worth exploring. But the decision should be based on the student's individual situation, not just marks.
Parents: Look at the reason behind the struggleβnot just the result.
If you are considering NIOS for your child, speak to an experienced education counsellor and understand whether it is actually suitable.
