Sergei Rachmaninoff was born in Russia in 1873.
By the age of 19, he had already composed some of the most celebrated works in classical music history.
He was a concert pianist whose technique was considered almost superhuman.
His hands could stretch across 13 piano keys, and audiences across Europe and America were captivated by his performances for over four decades.

He lived and breathed music from childhood until the very end of his life.
And still, after all of that he said a lifetime wasn't enough.

One of the most common things I hear from adults who want to learn music is some version of "Is it too late for me?"
And my answer is always the same;
You're not late. You're just early in a journey that has no finish line.

Music is skill that is a living, evolving relationship.
It's a way of understanding the world differently.

Rachmaninoff had a lifetime of musical mastery and still felt there was more to discover.
That's not to discourage you. That's the whole point.
The depth is what makes it worth starting.

When Dr. Shinichi Suzuki first said this, in post-war Japan, it was almost a radical idea.
The prevailing belief was that musical gift was something you were born with;
you either had it or you didn't.

He disagreed. Profoundly.

He looked at how children learn to speak without formal instruction, without being told they're "gifted enough," without anyone screening them first and asked:
"Why can't music work the same way?"
Given the right environment, the right repetition, the right encouragement, every child can learn.

What's remarkable is that neuroscience, decades later, has come to the same conclusion.
Studies consistently show that music training, especially when started young, strengthens working memory, sharpens focus and attention, builds language and reading skills, and supports emotional regulation.
They're structural changes in how the brain develops. And they compound.
A child who plays an instrument for two years often become a better reader, a calmer thinker, a more socially attuned person.
It just requires showing up, regularly, in a supportive environment.

At Homely Harmony, this is the philosophy behind everything we do.
We teach music as a language, something absorbed through listening, imitation, repetition, and joy.
Our goal is give you an experience of deep, sustained learning that stays with you long after you put the instrument down.

We'd love to be part of that journey.

Hi, I’m Pratik.
And this is the story of Homely Harmony.

I grew up in a household and family where music was a part of life. My dad would play music on the cassette/CD/DVD player, the VCR and every other media player that was available at the time - the early 2000s.
I was exposed to various genres of music from a young age and was surrounded by musicians (my dad as well, who himself is a very skilled musician) because of the fact that my family would go to church, where once again, music is an integral part of the culture.

When you think about it, most of you reading this would be able to relate because I’m sure that, just like me, you were exposed to music. Whether it was at home, at places of religious worship and gathering, during commute - in the car and radio, or just nature itself; birds singing their sweet God given songs.
I never thought I’d have a career in music or make a living through music, least of all teaching music!
I always wanted to be a professional footballer (or soccer player as Americans would say).
But God works in mysterious ways and I can see that He has given me the skillset, experience, knowledge and environment where I have the opportunity to provide professional Music Education to those who desire and seek to learn, especially in India.
And that’s exactly what I began doing at the age of 18, during the second semester of my Bachelor of Music in Music Education, in Bangalore, India, in the year 2017.
Soon after, in May of 2018, ‘Homely Harmony’ was born.

I quickly realized that quality music education was lacking around me and soon enough I realized that was the case throughout India. I made sure to do the best I could to educate my clients with a holistic knowledge of music, not just the ability to ‘play an instrument’.
Did you know that your voice can be considered as an instrument? I bet not! And that’s exactly my point. There is so much that we are unaware of about the beauty of music being within and around us. In fact, it is a fabric that is weaves us together as a species and society.
Even if you do not understand what is being sung or played, your body, mind and soul will still respond to the language of music that travels through your ears, into the depths of your soul.
Here’s another fun fact; Did you know that your body constantly vibrates and emits frequencies? That too, depending on your state of mind and mood? You didn’t, did you? Boom - Mind. Blown.
So ‘vibes’ is actually a thing. LOL!

In 2022, Homely Harmony had already touched the lives of 100+ wonderful people, from the ages of 4 to 67. We had a team of 5 vibrant individuals, all very skilled and commendable in what they do, especially Music Education. As fate would have it, the 5 of us parted ways and I, Pratik, was left alone to continue the Mission of Homely Harmony; to bring professional Music Education at the comfort of your home.
However, the challenges I faced personally as well as professional seemed a bit too much for me to overcome at the time and I decided to officially put Homely Harmony on hiatus in September of 2022.

Fast forward to now, March 2026; I didn’t think I would be providing Music Education once again this soon!
Since having been exposed to various other educational institutions, a different country and culture on the other side of the globe, professions and jobs, I have been pulled back into the service of Music Education and have decided to rebuild Homely Harmony.
Knowing that my time, energy, skillset, experience and knowledge put towards serving my clients to help them achieve a skill that enriches not only their own lives but also the lives of those around them; their family and friends, gives me joy and fulfillment.

I would love for you and your family to be a part of this journey, to be interwoven with me in the musical tapestry of life.
Let’s have a conversation about how you can learn to bring more music into your life.
