Vishaka Hari: A Divine Journey of Bhakti and Emotion

Dear Rasikas,

We were truly blessed to be part of the great Harikatha presented by Smt. Vishaka Hari. It is difficult to put into words the overwhelming feeling that filled the auditorium. There is no easy way to explain why so many people were moved to tears. The story may have been familiar and well known, but in her telling, it came alive through bhakti, emotion and a deep sense of righteousness. One simply felt the experience rather than analysed it.

We are grateful to God for having given Smt. Vishaka Hari to our generation. She is a role model and an icon, not only through her music and Harikatha, but also through the remarkable work she does in inspiring young people and preserving our traditions and culture. Smt. Charulatha Ramanujam on the violin was extremely impressive, blending beautifully with her. The duo of Sri. Vijay Natesan and Smt. Sukanya Ramgopal on the ghatam were excellent, making their presence felt through their energetic and sensitive playing.

The evening had begun with Chi. Rajagopala Hari, who presented his Harikatha for about an hour and forty-five minutes from 4:30 pm. At just 18, he is remarkably young, yet he showed distinct promise and individuality. What was particularly encouraging was that he did not merely repeat what he had heard from senior Harikatha artistes; he brought his own approach and dimensions to the discourse. He was accompanied on the violin by Sri. Krithik Koushik and Sri. Sreevatsan.

It was indeed a memorable Saturday evening—one filled with bhakti, emotion, music and the joy of seeing a new generation carrying our traditions forward.

Ms. N.J. Nandini: A Flawless Concert of Melody and Charm

Dear Rasika,

Ms. N.J. Nandini rendered a melodious and flawless concert today. She sings with great ease and effortlessness, drawing the audience into her music and holding their attention throughout. Sri. Nishant Chandran was absolutely in tune with her music and provided excellent support.

Sri. Vijay Natesan brought great energy to the concert and combined beautifully with Sri. Ramanujam on the ghatam. Together, they added vibrancy and rhythm to the performance, making it a very pleasant musical evening.
