Just today the Samatha Slc team of educators was discussing the statement - We MUST focus on the abilities instead of the disabilities. -
The word to focus on here is 'must'. Tolerance, acceptance, inclusion are all actions that follow the feeling. The feeling comes from the heart. Someone else telling you that you 'must' just does not make it happen!
When you value human diversity and uniqueness, no one would ever have to tell you that you 'must' accept differences and practice inclusion. It becomes the way of the life one lives, the way we think and they way we act!
So instead of telling anyone what they 'must' do, how about we keep sharing wow moments and special incidences that highlight the uniqueness of individuals? Do they have to have special needs? Nah. They can just be uniquely special... 🥰

I want to be thought of and talked about in that way....don't you?

Every parent wants the best for their child...
It sometimes takes courage to recognise that our child needs a little extra help, be it in..academics performance ..social skills.. communication skills.. writing skills..reading skills .. written expression
If we have the courage to recognise that our child needs some form of support, then we are ready to get them the help they need.
It also helps us to realise that timely help saves our child a lot of trauma. Ignoring the gap between the child 's performance levels and the grade level expectations will not solve the problem. The gap increases unless addressed with timely and effective strategies.
