Research Seminar on
“Urban Inequality and Sustainable Development” jointly organised by Centre for Research & Consultancy and Centre for Sustainability, RIM

Dr. Bharat Dahiya, Director, Research Centre for Sustainable Development and Innovation, Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand, was invited to deliver a Research Seminar on "Urban Inequality and Sustainable Development" on 25 July 2026.

Prof. Dahiya is a Series Editor for the Springer Nature book series, “Advances in 21st Century Human Settlements”. He is also an Extraordinary Professor at the School of Public Leadership, Stellenbosch University, Western Cape, South Africa.

This research seminar was jointly organised by the Centre for Research and Consultancy with the Centre for Sustainability. The seminar began with Dr. Geetha Rajaram, Professor and Dean, RIM extending a warm welcome to Prof. Dahiya.

Drawing on his extensive international experience with UN-Habitat, United Nations Human Settlement Programme and the World Bank, Prof. Dahiya enriched the seminar with global perspectives on sustainable urban development and inclusive policymaking.

He also shared insights from his contribution to the Asia-Pacific SDG Partnership Report 2026, highlighting emerging regional challenges and opportunities for accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The interactive session encouraged participants to reflect on the role of research in addressing urban disparities and fostering inclusive and sustainable development. Faculty members, researchers, and Fellow Programme in Management scholars actively participated in the question-and-answer session, engaging in meaningful discussions on urban sustainability, public policy, and emerging research opportunities.

Moderated by Dr. Meghna Verma, Head, Centre for Research & Consultancy and Centre for Sustainability, RIM the session facilitated a rich exchange of ideas and explored opportunities for international collaboration, interdisciplinary research, joint publications, and future academic partnership.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Reena Aramban, expressing gratitude to the distinguished speaker and all participants for making the session insightful and impactful.
