Delighted to share a project presentation by 1st-term MBA Technology Management students at TAPMI Bengaluru TAPMI Bengaluru , completed as part of Business Statistics, a course I taught as visiting faculty.
The core statistical foundations were taught in Business Statistics, with an applied module on statistical arbitrage.
In that module, the class moved from theory to practice: how mean reversion, hypothesis testing, and regression can be used to design a pairs-trading strategy. Supriya Sathyakumar, Sunny Mishra, and Chandrika Murthy delivered an excellent presentation on statistical arbitrage using pairs trading.
They applied stationarity, cointegration, correlation, and linear regression, and used the Augmented Dickey–Fuller (ADF) test to examine whether the spread was stationary.For the live example, the team worked with SBI Life (SBILIFE) and Canara Bank (CANBK) futures. After estimating the hedge ratio and constructing the spread, they back-tested the strategy on historical data and obtained a return of 23.36%.
This was an academic back-test on past prices, not a live trading result and not an indication of future performance .It was encouraging to see first-term students connect classroom statistics to a real market problem with clarity and rigor.

**Agentic AI is already eating medium-level coding jobs.**

GPT-4.5-class models + real agents (plan → tool use → debug → iterate) can scaffold apps, write tests, refactor, and ship medium-complexity work faster and cheaper than most juniors and many mids.

High-level architecture, novel systems thinking, and real accountability still need humans.
The middle is shrinking fast.

Most engineering colleges are not ready:
- Students still treat AI as homework autocomplete
- Faculty still teach blank-file coding like it’s 2015
- Prompt engineering, agent steering, and verification of AI code are barely taught
