An experience in our daycare
A piggy bank which looked like a locker gave so many opportunities to discuss and learn. We spoke about how a locker works, how do we get money from the ATM. We discussed that just the way children have in the money in piggy bank ....we adults have it in our account.
Few days later I had to go to an Atm, he tagged along with me. He had many questions... How did money come out, how did it go inside, how do they know how much u can draw etc.
The interest did not stop there. We had an idea of making currency with papers. Different currency were tried.. rupees, dollars etc. Drawing, measurement, colour combination, observation skills were some of them being used in making the currency.
When I was talking to my team about some cheque, next topic to explore was cheque book. He made a cheque. Again we observed how a cheque looks and what all does it contain. The next morning when I entered the school he had 2 cheque books one with 50 leaves and one with 20 leaves.
This learning process still did not end. Today we discovered a 'magic cheque'. We spoke about manifestation, universe, how to visualize, ask and u shall receive and also we had a business module today.
A cheque by universe was drawn and written actually 3 cheques were made sitting in one place with lot of perseverance, creativity, observation, focus, concentration for 2 hrs. We got 5 photo copies done. We also did the costing and decided selling cost of the magic chq .... Rs.5. I offered business loan of RS.10/-(that was returned).
This one activity was so interesting for the child that he was engrossed the whole day in making, planning, discussing, calculating, explaining and marketing his product.
What a beautiful process to witness. Who says the child is not willing to learn, focus, concentrate and take responsibility.
A reminder that age is just a number. Everyone is capable.
