Being Hyper Human - The idea was born in a conversation between our faculty members and chair of photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, Brian Emery in March 2024. The idea developed into a year long artistic collaboration, conversation between cohorts of students, alumni and faculty of both the institutions - the result was a deeply meaningful body of photogaphic - image based work. It was shown at in 2025 in New York. The show opened at newly renovated, beautiful, Venkatappa Gallery in Bengaluru last evening (7th Feb) and will run till 20th Feb. Please visit, we would love to know your thoughts on the show. The project was co mentored by Brian Emery and .paris

The exhibition title, "drafting disorientations," came from two sites of semester III, namely, the ten-week-long studio on “Making Space for Art” led by Sandip Kuriakose in the context of @1.shanthiroad Studio Gallery and the five-week-long “Text and Textuality” research writing seminar facilitated by Kush Patel () and Anjali Sakleshpur (.sakleshpur) at The Just Futures Co-lab.

Our sincere thanks to Suresh Jayaram for being an active collaborator and host throughout this past semester—and to all the people who visited the exhibition and engaged with the works generously.

Lisha Thimmaiah (.thimmaiah) (student of IAIDP – MDes) and Dr Keya Chakraborty, Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design, and Technology, have published a book titled " Play for Peace: Leveraging Place-Based Educational Game Design to Mitigate Human-Animal Conflict" from Ishara Press, United Kingdom.

Grounded in Lisha’s master’s thesis, the objective of this book is to develop an effective place-based educational game design intervention that contributes to resolving the human-animal conflict issue worldwide, based on more-than-human design thinking.

This book aims to demonstrate how role-play and collaborative board games can serve as a game-changer in establishing human-nature partnerships through indigenous knowledge systems and co-creation with stakeholders.

The project was developed as part of our Designing Dignity studio, and it’s inspiring to see student work evolve into real-world innovation! ✨

Proud moment for the team Designing Dignity, and a step forward for accessible & dignified design. 🙌
