🌍 World Autism Awareness Day

From Dependence to Independence: Aarush’s Journey with WeLeap

Every journey in autism is unique—and Aarush’s story is a powerful reminder of what consistent support, patience, and belief can achieve.

When Aarush first began, he required significant assistance in daily routines. Transitions were difficult, communication was limited, and independence seemed like a distant milestone. Like many individuals on the autism spectrum, he needed structure, predictability, and a nurturing environment to thrive.

At WeLeap, our focus goes beyond skill-building—we aim to foster independence with dignity. Through structured interventions, individualized life-skills training, and continuous encouragement, Aarush began taking small yet meaningful steps:
✔️ Making choices independently
✔️ Following routines with reduced prompts
✔️ Expressing himself more effectively
✔️ Participating confidently in everyday activities

Over time, these small steps led to a big transformation.

Today, Aarush is not just completing tasks—he is taking ownership of them.
He is not just participating—he is engaging with confidence.
He is not just learning—he is growing towards independence.

This World Autism Awareness Day, let us move beyond awareness to acceptance, inclusion, and empowerment.

Because independence is not about doing everything alone—it is about having the ability, confidence, and opportunity to live with dignity.

💙 Every step forward matters. Every journey deserves to be celebrated.

On this World Down Syndrome Day, we celebrate progress that goes beyond milestones — we celebrate independence, dignity, and self-belief.

Rishu’s journey at PsychInsight, in collaboration with WeLeap, reflects how structured support and the right environment can empower individuals to build independent living skills step by step.

From understanding days, routines, and time concepts to making choices and taking ownership of daily tasks — every small achievement is a big step toward autonomy.

At PsychInsight, we believe independence is not taught in one moment — it is nurtured consistently with patience, structure, and belief in the individual’s potential.

Let’s move beyond awareness and work towards creating real opportunities for independence and inclusion.

💛 Different, not less — capable, confident, and evolving every day.

Your marksheet never defines your future or your success. It’s your resilience, self-belief, and willingness to grow that truly matter. Thank you, , for this powerful reminder. 🌟

I scored 57 in English in my Class 12th board exams.
Today I get invited by top companies and colleges across the world to address their employees and students.
I scored 93 in chemistry. And never touched the subject in my life again.
I scored 87 in physics, pursued it until I realized that's not what I wanted to do.

During that time I felt my marks are going to define my entire life.
And I am sure you feel the same way today.
I understand. I hear you. I see you.

And if there is only one thing that I would love for you to know - it is this:
It's going to be ok.
You are going to be ok.
As long as you have yourself, you are going to be ok.

Don't ever give up on yourself.
❤️❤️❤️

Celebrating Rishabh & Preeth on World Down Syndrome Day!

Today, on World Down Syndrome Day, I want to take a moment to appreciate two of my incredible students—Rishabh and Preeth—who make the world a brighter place with their unique strengths and beautiful personalities.

✨ Rishabh, with his boundless energy and passion for dance, can light up any room. His rhythm, confidence, and joy when he moves are truly inspiring!

❤️ Preeth, with his gentle nature and unwavering kindness, reminds us all of the power of love and sincerity. His obedience and warmth make him a true gem in our learning space.

At PsychInsight, we believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to shine in their own way. Rishabh and Preeth remind us that differences should be celebrated, not just accepted.

Let’s continue to foster inclusion, respect, and love for individuals with Down syndrome—not just today, but every day!

Out of My Mind …. A WELEAP Perspective

Inclusion isn’t just a goal—it’s a mindset. At WELEAP, where we empower adolescents and adults with life skills for independent living, we often ask ourselves: Are we truly listening to the voices of individuals with disabilities, or are we simply hearing them? Disney’s Out of My Mind resonates deeply with our mission, offering a poignant reminder of the importance of authentic communication and equity.

The story of Melody Brooks, a sixth-grader with cerebral palsy, is a testament to the untapped potential within every individual. Melody’s greatest challenge isn’t her physical disability; it’s finding a way to share her thoughts and ideas with a world that often overlooks her voice. Played by Phoebe-Rae Taylor, an actress with cerebral palsy, Melody’s character exemplifies that what people say is far more significant than how they say it.

At WELEAP, we understand that communication is the foundation of independence. For individuals with cerebral palsy, autism, or other disabilities that affect speech, the struggle to express oneself can be isolating. But as Out of My Mind powerfully illustrates, these individuals have so much to share—if we’re willing to listen.

The film also highlights the difference between equality and equity—an essential distinction in our work. Equality provides the same tools for everyone, but equity ensures each person has the tools they need to thrive. At WELEAP, we focus on meeting individuals where they are, providing personalized support to help them overcome barriers and build the skills necessary for a fulfilling and independent life.

Out of My Mind challenges us to reflect on our own perceptions of communication and ability. As a community, we must go beyond superficial inclusion. We must listen—not just with our ears, but with our hearts and minds engaged—to truly understand the voices that often go unheard.

This film is not just a story; it’s a call to action. Let’s create a world where every voice is valued and where true inclusion becomes the norm. At WELEAP, we are committed to making that vision a reality.

(Out of My Mind is streaming now on Disney+.)
