When I was studying Electronics and Communication engineering, 30 plus years back, many asked me what actually I studied in the course? The subjects of the course as an answer did not make any sense to them. They even gave me hint to answer if I learn to make Television sets (TV sets were making way to our homes then) or Radio sets, but my 'No' answer puzzled them even more and also, I could not agree to them that I learnt to make TVs or Radio sets as I never learnt anything close to making any of them. During 1837- 1950, state of Mysore was hit by several famines followed by severe debt which were enough to dysfunction the administration. At that time, Mysore's then ruler Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar thought education to all was the only way to progress and development.
