The students of CP3 of Deccan international School reflect on their best activity of the year 2025-26.
Deccan International School
Deccan International School is a co-educational school, centrally located in South Bengaluru. Deccan International School was founded in the year 2003 by Mr. K.
N. Tilak Kumar, Joint Managing Director, Deccan Herald-Prajavani. Designed with a view of providing a host of facilities, both academic and co-curricular under one roof, our school’s buildings and open spaces extend over multi levels through an expansive 10 acre campus.
Grade 2 celebrated Eureka Science Week from 23rd to 27th February with great excitement and curiosity. The week began with an inspiring session on Thomas Alva Edison, where students learned about his inventions and the value of perseverance. The next day, “Factastics” filled the classroom with amazing and fun science facts that sparked many curious questions. A visit to the Biology Lab on Day 3 gave children a chance to observe models and microscopes, making them feel like young scientists.
On Day 4, they explored transparent and opaque objects through simple activities. The week concluded with exciting experiments on suction force, emulsification, and air pressure, leaving the students amazed and eager to learn more about the wonders of science.
Grade 2 students engaged in a meaningful Project-Based Learning experience on the theme “From Trash to Treasure.” With teachers’ guidance, they explored single-use plastic bottles, learning about how cap colours and the numbers underneath the bottles indicate the type of plastic and its recyclability. They gathered and represented data on plastic usage through simple charts. To extend their learning, students created thoughtful posters to raise awareness about reducing single-use plastic. The project nurtured research skills, critical thinking, and a sense of environmental responsibility.

Little Savers, Big Lessons
Financial Literacy is an important component of the curriculum at DIS. Students learn and discuss various topics that are planned and aligned for the grade level.
Ms. Veena Raj introduced Financial Literacy through an engaging session for students of Grade 2. Using a coin that students brought from home, she touched upon the basics of money management in a simple and enjoyable way. She familiarized the children with key terms such as deposit, withdraw, borrow, interest, customer and trusted agent through interactive explanations and hands-on activities.
The session was thoughtfully designed to align with the current theme, ‘My Vicinity’, making learning meaningful and age-appropriate. With lively participation and practical examples, the young learners quickly grasped the concepts. It was a delightful and enriching experience, leaving students excited to learn more about managing money wisely.
