A great contest with a very fun set of participants who came up with some superb answers! The Sports in Popular Culture Quiz- the 2nd quiz of the online leg of the Kolkata Sports Quiz Festival was a blast to organize and host!

Apart from participants from all across India, we had participants joining from the UK and Australia as well

Suvajit Chakraborty emerged the winner followed by Ankit Choudhury in 2nd place and Saahil Sharma in 3rd spot

Neelabhra Roy who was one of the joint winners of the India in Sports Quiz came 4th

The other top 10 finishers were:-

Vishnu Vijay, Ishaan Yewale, Shanine Salmon, Arun Preethi, Diptojyoti Purkayastha and Tathagata Chatterjee

Coming up in just a few hours

presents the 2nd quiz of the online leg of the Kolkata Sports Quiz Festival - the Sports in Popular Culture Quiz

This quiz is all about Sports, Sportspeople, Sporting references in Movies, Television, Music, Advertising, Literature and any aspect of Pop Culture- even Memes. It also includes people in the world of entertainment who have featured in sports as owners or even participants.

This is a solo quiz

There would be a 20 question prelims on the Go Spring platform, with the top 4 qualifying for the final.

The final would be held in MIMIR format and would have 32 questions.
All registered participants (even those who didn't qualify for the final) would be sent the PDF and TSV of the MIMIR final.

Format of each quiz :-

The quiz would have a preliminary round, held on the Go Spring platform, with the top 4 qualifying for the final in a MIMIR format with 32 questions.

We will also send the TSV and PDF of the MIMIR after the quiz to all registered participants, so that even if you do not qualify you can play the quiz as a friendly with your friends.

As you would know, we are starting the Entertainment Quiz League from the 16th of June, to be held in MIMIR format. We will be closing registrations on 15th June 11:59 PM

This league would be played in the MIMIR format

What is MIMIR?

MIMIR is an individual format designed to balance the questions that every player receives in the course of a game. Each game involves four players. The questions come in sets of four (a "quad") on a related subject, and one question in each quad is directed to each player through the course of the game. (Credit- MIMIR's well league in UK, for this crisp summary) . It's just like taking part in a live quiz!

Format of the Entertainment Quiz League:-

For the first 8 weeks, each match will consist of 32 questions. The semi finals and finals would consist of 64 questions. The best part, is all participants get to play the sets for the semi finals and finals as well (as you would be grouped in Tiers, after the 8 weeks- where you would get to play the semis and finals with people who have performed as well as you in the league) . E.g. The top 8 in the league qualify for Tier 1 semi finals, ranks 9-16 qualify for Tier 2 semi finals, Ranks 17-24 qualify for Tier 3 semi finals and so on...

Content - Around 80-85 % international , around 15-20% Indian

Also, after every week the questions would be sent to all registered participants, so you can later on quiz your friends and family on their Entertainment Quotient as well!

League Scoring System:-

For winning a match you get 4 league points, for coming second 3 points, for coming third 2 points and for coming fourth you get 1 point.

In case of ties, the points get divided (E.g. A tie for first spot, would mean the two participants get 3.5 points each, while the third and fourth would get 2 and 1 points respectively)
