Golden Jubilee Reunion of 1962 Batch
NEARLY 55 OF THE 1962 BATCH WERE PRESENT INCLUDING
THOSE WHO HAD MADE THE TRIP FROM AUSTRALIA, UNITED
KINGDOM AND UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
THE OLD STUDENTS REMINESCED ABOUT THE COLLEGE DAYS,
WHAT THEY DID OR DOING AFTER THEY BECAME GRADUATES,
WHAT SOME OF THEM HAVE GIVEN BACK TO THE COUNTRY OF
THEIR ORIGIN (THOSE WHO ARE RESIDING ABROAD) AND OTHER
THINGS. ONE OF THEM HAS SERVED AS MLA OF KARNATAKA
LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY, ANOTHER IS AN MBE (MEMBER OF THE
ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE) AND A JUSTICE OF PEACE IN
THE UK AND ANOTHER WAS SPECIALLY INVITED TO BE A GUEST
OF PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH AT THE WHITE HOUSE. ONE OF THE CLASSMATES WAS THE LEADER OF THE TEAM WHICH
OPERATED ON PRIME MINISTER MANMOHAN SINGH AND YET
ANOTHER IS A PROFESSOR OF SURGICAL ONCOLOGY AT
LOYOLA UNIVERSITY AT CHICAGO.
NEARLY FIFTEEN TEACHERS OF YORE ATTENDED THIS REUNION
ON INVITATION AND THEY WERE EXTREMELY HAPPY THAT
THEY WERE REMEMBERED AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.
THERE WAS ENTERTAINMENT WITH THE EVERGREEN SOHAIL
HASAN SINGING SOME DELIGHTFUL, MELODIOUS OLD HINDI
SONGS AND OTHERS FOLLOWED HIM IN THEIR OWN INIMITABLE
A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL AND IN ADDITION TO THE
FESTIVITIES, THE GROUP PRESENTED THE AUDITORIUM WITH
TWO DIGITAL CLOCKS AND ALSO DECIDED TO DONATE
WHATEVER IS REMAINING FROM THE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE
BANGALORE MEDICAL COLLEGE DEVELOPMENT TRUST WHICH
HAS ESTABLISHED A STATE OF THE ART CLINICAL SKILLS
CENTRE AT BMC FOR THE BENEFIT OF BMC AND OTHER
MEDICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS.

1993 Batch Reunion
Around 50 Batchmates of the 1993 Batch were present for this Reunion. Many of
those who could not make it had sent their video messages. Along with video
messages, collection of videos and pictures from college days were also played to
refresh old memories of college days.
Everyone present for this reunion had shared their journey after graduation from
BMC, which was recorded and will be available very soon on page of
1993 batch. Participants also decided to actively participate in BMC Alumni
activities and contribute money to start a scholarship or Award for BMC under
graduate students for excellence in Academics. Discussion for same will be taken
up with Alumni office bearers after developing wider consensus with other

Emergency Care and Life support Training Program
We are happy to bring you abreast with what is happening at BMCAA & BMCDT.
The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences has entered into a collaboration
with the UNIVERSITY OF UTAH, SALT LAKE CITY, USA. to start a programme of
COMPREHENSIVE EMERGENCY CARE AND LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING
PROGRAMME FOR MEDICAL FACULTY in KARNATAKA.
There is no need to emphasise the importance of this training for doctors in India
in general, and Karnataka to start with.
The first programme of Training of Trainers is being held on June 23,24 and 25 at
the CLINICAL.SKILS CENTRE AT BMCRI which as you are all doubtless aware was
established by the BMCDT & BMCAA. The facilities have been upgraded by
importing special mannequins from the USA at a cost of 12 lakhs to meet the
requirements of conducting a workshop of this kind with a world class
programme and syllabus.
The BMCDT has entered into an MOU with the RGUHS which will meet part of the
expenses of the upgrade and also help and assist in regular conduct of the
training programme for our doctors.
Dr. Peter P Taillac and Dr. Vijay Bhaskar Reddy from the University of Utah will
be the trainers at the first workshop. These are very eminent specialists and
The formal inauguration of the programme which has been titled JEEVA RAKSHA
will be done by His Excellency Governor of.Karnataka and Chancellor of the Rajiv
Gandhi University of Health Sciences Dr. Hansraj Bharadwaj, and the Chief Guest
