The State Government has announced a holiday for schools and colleges on Saturday, August 22 following death of Jnanapeeth awardee UR Ananthamurthy.

Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee told Bangalore Mirror, "We have declared a three-day mourning and a state holiday on Saturday."
