Is it possible for an average English user to get band 8 in IELTS writing? 17/05/2017

The question whether it is possible or impossible depends on the time you have to prepare for the IELTS exam. An average user, as far as I am concerned, is someone who cannot get the subject verb agreement correct and the ones who lack vocabularies, especially the ones who do not know the meanings of action words in English. There is every chance that a person who falls under this category may fail to achieve the Task. [ 311 more words ]

To associate his name with rowdy behaviour and hooliganism is a tragedy. Romeo has been one of Shakespeare's finest literary creations. Most people think that they are, but in reality there are big differences in how well we can pull the wool over the eyes of others. There is a very simple test that can help determine your ability to lie. Using the first finger of your dominant hand, draw a capital letter Q on your forehead. Some people draw the letter Q in such a way that they themselves can read it. [ 207 more words ]

Irrational Youth 04/03/2017

Today’s Indian youth, to a large extent, are mostly careerist and anti- political. Ask them the reason for corruption and one will mostly get the answer –‘Politics and Politicians’. Exceptions apart, they always blame the system. Little do they know the part they play in the system. These young men and women are not only biased, misinformed and ignorant but irrational. Facts Vs Stories 03/03/2017

Much of the human suffering comes down to our habits of misinterpretation. We make many uninformed judgements in life. And unfortunately these judgements are usually dis empowering. Take an incident from the past or the present that is troubling you. Write down all the thoughts about it. For ex: what happened, what each people did, why they did it, what you did etc. [ 49 more words ]

A man stopped at a flower shop to order some flowers to be wired to his mother who lived two hundred miles away. As he got out of his car he noticed a young girl sitting on the curb sobbing. He asked her what was wrong and she replied, “I wanted to buy a red rose for my mother. But I only have seventy-five cents, and a rose costs two dollars.” [ 95 more words ]

The great similarities. 14/01/2017

An article by sister Jayanti in American Vedantist talks about the resemblance that Swami Vivekananda and Ernesto Che Guvera shared. She points out that both discovered their humanism and became deeply concerned for the poor after travelling extensively in their youth, one across India and the other throughout South America. Both where hot tempered, loved sports, smoked a pipe, and had big bright eyes. [ 146 more words ]

National Anthem in movie theaters. 05/12/2016

It wouldn’t have been surprising if this directive has come from the government of India. This seems odd as it has come from the Apex court. This reflects a tendency on the part of the judiciary to over reach its role. It is indeed not the business of the judiciary to inculcate in the people a sense of patriotism. However, one cannot quarrel with the intent of rekindling the spirit of patriotism amongst the citizens. [ 218 more words ]

One of the earliest issuers of coins in the world was India. A new civic and military administration was formed in India from 1540 to 1545 under a ruler named Sher Shah Suri.
