A strong justice system needs strong representation at the grassroots. That is what the IDIA (Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education) Litigation Fellowship is building in Sikkim.
Through five days of intensive training and mentorship, eight advocates from the second cohort engaged with human rights, environmental law, civil and criminal procedure, and practical courtroom skills.
Through this fellowship, IDIA is strengthening young advocates at the district-court level and helping build stronger legal representation for vulnerable communities across Sikkim.
The orientation may be over, but the learning now moves into the courts, where these advocates will put it into practice with the communities they represent.
