Dr. C. Shambu Prasad conducted a masterclass ‘Thought for Food: Rural Lives and the Future of What We Eat’, for the India Food Systems Youth Network.
He spoke about the links between soil, nutrition and public health while unpacking the structural realities shaping Indian agriculture today. This session also looked at how fragile and globally connected our food systems have become and why building more resilient futures will require agroecological thinking, community participation and youth-led action.

The India Food Systems Youth Network is hosting an online session with Dr Pulkit Mathur on 15th May 2026 from 6 PM to 7 PM.
Dr. Mathur is a Professor in the Department of Food and Nutrition and Food Technology at Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi. In this session, she will explore how government policies and initiatives are shaping food systems while highlighting the role of consumers and the food industry in building healthier and more sustainable food environments. Through a “whole of society” approach, the conversation will look at why collective responsibility is key to supporting both human health and environmental sustainability.
