International Day of Yoga, 21st June 2025
21st June has been declared The International Day of Yoga to mark the power of Yoga in enriching physical attributes and mental faculties alike. Yoga has its roots in the ancient Indian culture and heritage, with many yogic practices being integral to the way of life. The Hindu deity Shiva, believed to be the first Yogi, Adi Yogi, is revered as the first Guru or teacher to have imparted the knowledge of Yoga to mankind, and hence, became the first Guru, Adi Guru.
Yoga as a spiritual and self disciplinary practice aims to establish the harmonious confluence of mind, body and spirit. By involving multidisciplinary practices of body postures (yogasanas), breath control (pranayama) and meditation (sadhana), Yoga can help achieve an advanced state of wellbeing and oneness with the self and the universe.
The 11th anniversary of the International Day of Yoga on June 21st 2025 is being celebrated with the theme of Yoga for One Earth, One Health. The cheerful learners at Endeavor were on the forefront, heartily coming together to celebrate the day with the best of their energy and enthusiasm. Displaying and achieving diverse postural formations, they were truly unified in envisioning a healthier self and a healthier Mother Earth, one posture, one breath at a time. The celebrations strengthened the resolve to strive for a balanced and eco conscious existence, in appreciation of the connection between our health and the health of the planet.
