Subject - Ugadi celebration

Ugadi which is literally translated as the start of new calendar - Ug means 'new ' and adi means' the beginning'.

The festival is celebrated with high spirits, new clothes and some mouth watering traditional cuisines.

On this day, they prepare a special dish called 'UgadiPachadi' for relatives and friends. This dish is made using seasonal ingredients like raw mango, neem ,jaggery, tamarind and it also has chilly and salt.

The different ingredients signify varied flavours of life such as happiness, sorrow, anger, bitterness, surprise and fear. The dish is eaten on this special day to remind ourselves about life and variety of emotions that come along.

World Water Day is celebrated globally on 22nd March every year. This day is an opportunity to learn about water and it's conservation.

Our body has 60% of water. We drink water when we feel thirsty. Water is also vital for other living things (plants, animals etc). Today billions of people are still living without safe water, as water resources are polluted.

We can save water by

1. Ensuring proper closure of the tap after every use.
2. Using bucket and mug, while bathing instead of using shower.
3. Avoiding disposal of waste in water sources (lakes, river, ponds, seas, wells etc).
4. Using excess water in bottle to water the plants.
