Bengaluru's deputy chief minister, DK Shivakumar, is considering building a 250-metre tall skydeck as the tallest viewing tower in the country. The proposal is made by Vienna-based Austrian company Coop Himmelkau, in association with the World Design Organisation (WDO). The location for the proposed mega tower is yet to be identified. The design is inspired by algorithms governing the natural growth of the banyan tree's branches, hanging roots, and blooming flowers. The tower will be divided into three parts: base, trunk, and blossom. The base is anchored in the history of the city, while the trunk symbolizes the journey of the banyan tree's growth. The top portion, blossom, will resemble a beacon inspired by a flower in bloom. The Austrian company has executed projects in Europe, USA, China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, and Australia. The structure will provide visitors with various recreational activities, including a shopping passage, restaurants, theatre, and sky garden at the base, and a roller-coaster station, exhibition hall, sky lobby, skydeck, restaurant, bar, and VIP area at the top.
