Two days’ intensive workshop on Fashion Choreography was successfully conducted on 10th & 11th February 2026 by the Department of Fashion Design, Faculty of Art & Design, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Peenya Industrial Area, Bangalore.
The session was inaugurated with a warm welcome and introducing expert choreographers from Athul Academy and A.S Dream Studio. Students gained insights into the importance of choreography styles in the modeling industry and were trained in elegant walking techniques, posture alignment, expressions, and stage presence.
Ms. Jennifer emphasized the power of teamwork between choreographers, designers, and models, highlighting how timing, rhythm, and confidence shape a successful fashion show. Our budding designers actively practiced ramp walks, poses, and performance techniques — building confidence and professional skills for the runway. ✨

Students performed Fashion show in National level Navyug Khadi Mahotsav 2026, on 31 Jan 2026 in HMT ground, Bangalore. During the event students showcased various Khadi sarees, accessories by different draping techniques. Students learnt and developed practical hands on experience of choreography, modelling, event management etc. All the participants were provided with participation certificate by the Khadi board organiser.

✨ Workshop Highlight | Saree Draping Techniques ✨
A hands-on workshop on “Saree Draping Techniques” was successfully conducted on 30.01.2026 at the Garment Manufacturing Lab, RTC for our fashion designing students.
The session was led by Ms. Varsh*tha Keshava C, Founder of Amrteswari Satika, and Ms. Megha Narayan, Founder of Artistry by Megha Bangalore.
Students explored traditional Indian saree draping styles, including tucking, wrapping, and pleating over a petticoat and blouse. The workshop focused on practical learning, fabric handling, and expert draping tips shared by the resource persons.

Students and staff from the department of fashion design visited Shell Apparels , denim manufacturing and processing unit in Chika ballpura, Bangalore on 22 Jan 2026. Students were given practical exposure on various aspects of denim manufacturing from fabric stage to final finishing stage.

The Workshop on “Shibori Techniques” was held on 13 Jan 2026, in Fashion Design lab, Ramaiah Technology Campus, RUAS for B. Des Fashion Designing students. Mr. Prodip Polley, Co-Founder, Karma Ashram, Bolpur, Designer and Textile Specialist demonstrated the Shibori techniques by using natural dyes. Students were taught various tieing techniques and dyeing methods. First dyeing was carried out from lighter colour to darker colour and designs were created based on students creativity. Workshop provided the students valuable hands-on experience and practical exposure to techniques and sustainable dyeing practices. Participation in the workshop contributed to skill enhancement and a deeper understanding of the craftsmanship.

Dept. of Fashion Design, Faculty of Art and Design, RUAS conducted “First Groove of Fashion Style Supreme – 2025” (FGFSS-1) - INTER UNIVERSITY/ COLLEGIATE/ FASHION COMPETITION held on 22 Dec 2025 in RTC, Bangalore. This is first event of our student chapter Fashion Design, RUAS with AATCC (American association for Textile Chemists and Colourists). The themes for the show were Tradition Fashion Meets Digital Fashion, Sustainable Fashion and Fashion Style for 2047. The event started with Bharatanatya , classical dance by Ms Swathi. Total 9 colleges ie KLE Technological university, National Skill Qualification Framework, Aryabharathi First Grade College, T. John College, Dream Zone College, Mount Carmel Autonomous College, Apparel Training & Design Center, Acharya Polytechnic and Sapthagiri NPS University participated in the competition. Ramaiah University of Applied Science Fashion Club team ended the event by showcasing a final round of Fashion Style Supreme 2025 with Innovative fashion styles. Mount Carmel College won the winner award and National skill Qualification Frame work received the Runner award. All the designers and Models were given participation certificate.
The event provides a dynamic platform for fashion students to showcase their design concepts, styling skills, and runway presentation at a professional level. Participants showcased original designs based on the theme that reflect strong research, craftsmanship, and thematic interpretation, encouraging young designers to think beyond trends and explore meaningful narratives through fashion. Each participating team presented creativity through garment construction, sustainable approaches, styling, choreography, and overall visual impact. Fashion Style Supreme also emphasizes teamwork, confidence, and stage presence, helping students develop essential skills required for the fashion and creative industries. The competition promoted healthy inter-institutional interaction and inspired students to exchange ideas, learn industry-oriented practices, and gain real-world exposure.

Department of Fashion Design Congratulates Ms Ratna Kumari M ( Gold Medel), Ms Yashika C ( Silver Medel) in M. Des Fashion design program and Ms Sahana P G. ( Gold Medel) and Ms Chandrika M. K ( Silver Medel) in B. Des Fashion design program. These awards were given in the 10th Annual Convocation 2025 held on 22 December 2025 at RUAS. The event marked an important transition as our graduates stepped from campus life into professional paths shaped by learning, discipline, and determination.

The “Workshop on Creative and Commercial Pattern Making Using Dart Suppression Techniques” was held on 15 Oct 2025 in Garment Manufacturing Lab for B. Des Fashion Design students. The resource person Shri Iftakhar Izhar Shaikh, entrepreneur, Bangalore demonstrated practically role of dart in developing innovative garments. The session explored how traditional darts can be creatively manipulated or eliminated through advanced pattern-making techniques to achieve unique silhouettes, improved fit, and modern design aesthetics. Participants gained hands-on experience in transforming basic bodice blocks using dart suppression methods such as pleats, gathers, panels, and style lines. The workshop emphasized both the artistic and commercial applications of these techniques, encouraging creativity while maintaining production feasibility.
