Message from the President of Alumni Association-

Dear Alumnus,

Greetings from the Alumni Association of IIT (BHU)

On the auspicious occasion of Deepawali, I wish you and your family happiness and prosperity. May the festival of lights bring success, good health, and bliss into your life.

IIT (BHU) is proud of its alumni community - a group of over 25,000+ engineers, technologists, scientists, managers and entrepreneurs. During the last one year we have carried out several initiatives for the benefit of our alumni. Your collective contribution and involvement is always vital in improving student experience, churning new ideas and achieving path-breaking research to enable the ever-improving ecosystem of IIT (BHU).

We launched our first initiative - Group Health Insurance for Alumni and their families in the months of January and February this year. We had an amazing response from our alumni with over 1750+ policies being subscribed. Several other alumni have since shown interest to join this scheme, we have started discussions with Insurance Company for renewal and hope to conclude it by end of this year.

The MMT airfare scheme for Alums and their immediate family members is also running in full swing now. The scheme offers airfare discounts for various airlines and it has greatly benefited them to save on hotel, trains, bus, cabs and flight bookings via leading partner MMT (Make My Trip Ltd.). We also help alumni connect back with their alma mater by enabling them assistance for guest house bookings at IIT, BHU. In addition to this, we also help them plan out excursions and trips in Varanasi.

We plan to take up a few more initiatives and need your active involvement to take leadership roles for some of these initiatives. But the need of hour is to give back to our Alma Mater.

As you are aware, more thah 100 years ago BHU took birth solely on strength of Donations collected by Mahamana Malaviyaji. During the ast 2 decades many other IIT's have agumented their infrastructure, setting up new labs, research parks etc through donations from their alumni. With the ever-growing eminence of IIT (BHU), it becomes pertinent that our alumni continue to contribute to the growth of their alma mater. The Institute has started several initiatives to meet its growth aspirations. It is time for us to bring out Malaviya within us and start donating any amount that you can. Alumni Association had various discussions with Dean R&D and DORA and we are planning to setup labs for Clean Energy and 5G. These labs are very relevant at current time, not only help students but also institute to improve its ranking something all of us are looking forward to. Donations to IIT (BHU) for infrastructure deveopment qualify for 80G benefits.

We reiterate once again that your contribution, however, small, or big is critical for sustaining excellence at your alma mater.

Alumni Association of IIT BHU (AASSII) is the nodal and central organization of the institute with the Chairman (Board of Governors) Director and Dean of Alumni affairs involved directly and has its office on the institute premises. The association works closely with the Student Alumni Interaction Cell and various alumni bodies that have emerged from different cities and countries around the world.
