A lovely and characterful performance of "The Worst Pies in London" from the acclaimed stage musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Originally written by Stephen Sondheim, this iconic number introduces the audience to the witty, eccentric Mrs. Lovett as she laments the quality of her pies-with humor, grit and unmistakable charm.
This rendition is performed by Daniella Guia Rebelo, bringing energy, personality, and theatrical flair to one of musical theatre's most memorable comedic songs.

A BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE TO KEN HENSON ON FOUNDER’S DAY- February 24th, 2026, by Varkey Thomas, Founding Trustee of The Bangalore Conservatory

Today we gather to celebrate Founder’s Day and the birthday remembrance of a dear friend, mentor, and servant of God
— Kenneth Henson.
Birthdays usually mark the passing of time.
But today, this remembrance marks something deeper — a life that continues to echo in hearts, in faith, and in song.
I would like to reflect on Ken through four simple lenses:
The man. His mission. His music. His ministry.

The Man
Ken was not merely a gifted individual — he was a living testimony of what it means to walk in the Spirit.
In him, we saw the fruits of the Holy Spirit made visible: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, self-control, and long-suffering.
And if I may add — immense patience.
I remember occasions when I made him wait at different destinations.
Ken never complained. Instead, he would quietly spend time working on his laptop while my coffee grew cold and my conscience grew heavier.
That was Ken — gentle, unhurried, gracious.
His presence never demanded attention, yet it always commanded respect.
His humility was not weakness; it was strength under control.
His quietness was not absence; it was depth.
To know Ken was to experience calm.
To walk with him was to encounter grace in ordinary moments.

His Mission
Ken’s life was anchored in one clear purpose:
To glorify God through music and through teaching His Word.
This was not a slogan for him.
It was the organizing principle of his life.
Whether in rehearsal rooms, classrooms, recitals, or quiet conversations, Ken never sought applause for himself.
He consistently redirected attention upward.
He lived with the conviction that talent is a gift , but purpose is a calling.
He honoured that calling faithfully.

A BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE TO KEN HENSON ON FOUNDER’S DAY- February 24th, 2026, by Varkey Thomas, Founding Trustee of The Bangalore Conservatory

His Music
Ken’s music was not merely performed — it was prayed.
Many musicians sing hymns.
Ken inhabited them.
Even today, when I hear a hymn, I do not just hear melody or harmony —
I hear Ken singing it.
His voice carried warmth, clarity, and devotion.
It was as though every note carried theology, and every phrase carried faith.
Someone once said that music is the language of heaven.
If that is true, then heaven gained a beautiful tenor.
And perhaps even now, Ken continues what he always did best — lifting song as worship, not performance.

His Ministry
Ken was a visionary.
At the end of a recital or concert, he would often say with simple sincerity:
“To God be the glory.”
Those words were not routine; they were revelation. They captured the essence of his ministry.
Ken’s ministry was not confined to pulpits. It flowed through his life, his music, his teaching, and his relationships.
As an academician, he shaped minds.
As a musician, he stirred hearts.
As a believer, he pointed souls toward Christ.
His ministry was holistic — teaching the gospel not only through words, but through presence, character, and example.

Legacy and Reflection
Today, we do not merely remember Ken.
We encounter his legacy.
Legacy is not what we leave behind in memory —
it is what we plant inside others that continues to grow.
Ken’s legacy lives in: the hymns we sing, the truths we teach, the patience we practice, and the humility we attempt to emulate.
His life gently asks each of us a question:
How will we use the gifts God has entrusted to us?

So today, on this birthday remembrance, we do not grieve , we hope.
We celebrate with gratitude.
Heaven rejoices.
And here on earth, we continue to learn from the legacy you have left —
a legacy inviting us to emulate, to follow, and to serve with the same quiet devotion.
May we carry forward what you demonstrated so beautifully:
faith without display, talent without pride, ministry without self, and worship without end.

“Some people sing songs…
but a few rare souls become the song itself.”
“Ken was one of those rare souls.”
“Ken’s voice may be silent to our ears…
but his song continues — in our faith,
in our worship, and in the lives he touched.”

“Happy birthday, Ken.”
To God be the glory.
Amen.

The Chapel service ended with a recording of Dr. Ken Henson singing “The Lord’s Prayer”
