India as the Talent Capital of the World

India wakes up to a new dawn as it hits a new peek on a global scale. After having recorded the highest population in the world surpassing China as the world’s most populous nation, India records an average age of 28.7 years. As a youthful nation, this places India at a juncture on its timeline where there is a serious problem posed of employment.
Being a nation with a high number of skilled young people, there is currently a job void. The Indian government has raised serious concern over how to tackle the problem, how to go about providing employment to an ever-growing population. The advantage that Indians are equipped with is their skill sets. The problem is the dearth of employment options. This is a serious disadvantage.
However, a paper by Amitabh Kundu of Jawaharlal Nehru University and P. C. Mohanan of Indian Statistical Service published by OECD begins with the line, “India has come to enjoy a distinct advantage in labour market compared to most developed and less developed countries due to the fast changing age distribution of population.” The global economy poses massive opportunities for Indian workers. With countries like Taiwan, Japan, Poland and even Germany facing a severe deficit of talent, the space opens up for Indians to migrate as skilled employees to different parts of the world where labour shortages are visible.
Japan faces a severe labour shortage with the average age of the population being 48.8 years. As an aging population with a huge chunk of seniors, a young working population is lacking. This positions Japan as a country with good immigration options for Indians in search of jobs. Skilling and upskilling the population in various categories like nursing, food processing, agriculture, fisheries and hotel management can enable many Indians to discover opportunity in foreign lands.
As the country that has the highest talent surplus in the world, India is a blessing to the world in having a trainable population that can be mobilized globally. This process has already begun in other countries, but is a new phenomenon in India. With corporate organisations and the government stepping in to provide the adequate fine-tuning of skills, major opportunities and a new work domain are seeing a space opening up in India.
One of the biggest pluses that Indians possess is their adaptable nature. Being quick to adapt and compromise in different kinds of life situations, Indians are well-liked and easily fit into foreign countries showing no hesitation in working around a new culture.
India currently has the potential to be the world’s largest supplier of a skilled workforce. “Mera Bharat Mahan,” is an oft-chanted slogan Indians have believed in for a few generations past. Futuristically speaking, the network to a bright and shining India is being carefully constructed right now as the initial foundation is being built for a take-off pad from which skilled Indians can fly off to the rest of the world. The question of what India will be supplying to the world’s economy can be articulated with a simple answer, skilled labour. That’s right, as a nation, India’s future lies in its deep talent surplus of skilled resources which calls upon Indians to head the world.
