Language in Montessori curriculum is an important area.

Children have the capabaility to learn more than 1 language at a young age. Considering this, a 2nd Language is usually introduced to children at an age of 5-6.

In Prayag, we offer either Kannada or Hindi as 2nd language.

Here we can see Aditi and Srimanyu with their 2nd language material (sounds) arranged in sucession.

Exploratory Activities are independent, unstructured activities that are open ended.

They are used in a montessori to explore ways of interacting with the material provided.

Here, we can see Level 1 children with an Arithmetic Exploratory Activity with numbers.

Grammar in Montessori learning, is taught to children with visual and sensory material, that help the child learn parts of a speech and how they function.

Maria Montessori , knowing children respond very well to shapes and colours, decided to use a set of coloured shapes to represent the different parts of speech.

Here we see Deepshika Pola has formed senteces with Small Moveable Alphabets and used different grammar symbols to represent Nouns and Verbs.

Sensorial materials help children become aware of all their senses.

This box of colour tablets is given to help the child to learn how to grade different shades in each colour.

This material also helps to improve order, concentration and creativity.

Keertana has arranged the colour tablets in a wonderful way, and named them “Rays of our sun”.
