AI can write for you. But it cannot take responsibility for what you communicate.
As AI becomes part of everyday work, leaders need more than the ability to use the tools. They need to know when to question, when to verify, and when to rely on their own judgment.
In our recent workshops, we have been sharing a simple principle:
Use AI as a buddy, not a genie.
A genie gives you an answer and you accept it.
A buddy works with you. You question it. Challenge it. Ask it to rethink. And ultimately, you decide what goes out in your name.
Before using AI-generated writing, ask:
Does this sound like us?
Is it right for the person receiving it?
Have the facts and assumptions been checked?
Does it communicate what we actually mean?
Because effective leadership in the AI era isn’t about handing our thinking over to technology.
It is about using technology while keeping judgment, context and human connection at the centre.
At Leadership KARD, we are embedding this into our Leadership in the AI Era training — helping leaders and teams use AI more thoughtfully in the way they think, communicate and work.
Is your organisation preparing its leaders simply to use AI — or to lead effectively with it?
