More relevant than ever. 3 things that you can (or rather should do) every week to bullet-proof your Career:
1. Seek out a "focused Study Time" on weekends. Sat or Sun, 1 day of the week, wherein you get 3 hours of solid time for learning new things. If you're a Java developer, try learning a new Database. If you're a DBA, try learning some C #... if you are a Mongo expert, have you tried learning Oracle? Seek out free courses online, ebooks and get going (Cut down on weekend partying, wasting money on Movies & Netflix and clamp down on excesses).
2. Scale yourself by learning diametrically opposite things. Push your mind. If you have worked in Azure throughout, get a perspective on AWS and Google Cloud. If you have worked on Oracle always, try learning a NoSQL Database. I often speak with people who say, "I didn't get a chance to...". I stop them saying, "Don't BS. You didn't learn...". Life does not give you chances.
3. Don't just read. Install the software, practice, do some tinkering around and build a routine for weekly updates to yourself.
E.g., I recently bought 2 courses online. Figured out I need to learn GraphQL and YugaByte Database. I don't need them for my daily life, but little learning never hurt someone. 6-8am on weekends or 3-6pm on weekends is the perfect time for me to learn new things.
Make a plan for yourself.
