Part 2:

LIA didn't just celebrate India's 77th Independence Day with cultural activities, there was a change in rhythm with some sports activities as well.
Braving the Sun and the dust, the teachers and students played a game of cricket and culminated the day's event with some show of strength in tug-of-war.

On 15th Aug 2023, LIA celebrated the 77th Independence Day of India.
The day was packed with activities that included - Flag hoisting, singing the National Anthem, dance performances, miming and sports to name a few.
The fancy dress competitions had the children guise themselves as Mahatma Gandhi, Kittur Chennamma, Rani Laxmi Bai and BR Ambedkar.

5th Aug, Saturday, the teachers at LIA had their monthly Teacher’s Training Day. This month’s topic was Activity Based Learning which gave guidelines on how to practice this and make it a part of the teaching methodology especially since they are working with children with disrupted learning journeys.
The session was facilitated by a 45 minute talk by Dr. Rachel Varghese. A medical doctor, practicing gynecologist for 40 years, with a passion to provide her medical services to the poor and tribal areas of different countries. She is currently retired and serving as a high school teacher in the USA. She was recently selected to be the best teacher in 3 counties.

She spoke about how teachers must be smart and strict, such that they always are one step ahead of the students, yet the students know that the teachers genuinely care for them. She spoke of how all her classes are up to date with all their assignments and projects, how she knows each one of her students by name, how she keeps up with technology and many other tricks up her sleeve.

Post the successful election campaign, came the Voting Day. All the students, especially the campaigners were excited and also anticipated this day on which the school leaders were voted for. The faculty and organizing committee went an extra mile to ensure the students had a memorable day. Setting up the voting booth, naming election officers, making election voting slips and setting up the inking procedure were some of the undertaking.

For the first time since its inception, the management of LIA had undertaken a secular voting process in the month of June 2023, to elect the school student leaders.
With nominee lists, campaigns, poll booths, polling procedure including inking the finger of the voters and ballot boxes, the process gave the students an identical feel to a Lok/Rajya Sabha election process.

On 14 June, 2023 LIA had conducted an eye screening camp in collaboration with Nayana Eye Clinic.
For many children, this was the first time getting their eye checked.
An eye opener indeed.

On 21 July, 2023, LIA in associations with Wind Chimes Speech and Hearing Clinic conducted a hearing evalution session for the children.
The services included Audiometry screening, Tympanometry screening and speech language evaluation.
The children were fascinated with the devices that were aided onto them to evaluate their hearing.

21 July, 2023, LIA had conducted a technical blood group screening session in collaboration with Faith Diagnostic Center.
It was a successful event with over 120+ students being part of the welfare campaign.
Many students were not aware of their own blood group; with this campaign they were made aware of this vital information.
