"I don't want realism. I want magic!" -
- Blanche DuBois

Tennessee Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire", a modern American drama, follows Blanche DuBois' perfect delusion being torn down only to be rebuilt again. The realistic set, dim lighting and music added the magic it requires. Late HOD Prof. Esther Yates was fully immersed during rehearsals when it came to the music or dances, and it reflected beautifully on stage.

“Until an hour before the Devil fell, God thought him beautiful in Heaven.”

- The Crucible / Reverend Hale
~

Excerpts from Arthur Miller was the theme for the class production by the last TCE batch that graduated in May 2017. The two chosen texts were Death of a Salesman and The Crucible.

Arthur Miller’s The Crucible and Death of a Salesman talk about the alienation of conformity placed on individuals making parallels in both modern and historic societies apparent.

Both his protagonists ( W***y Loman and John Proctor) act as an allegory of our times. While the death of a salesman depicts the futility of the American dream, The Crucible aims to showcase the American intolerance and resulting hysteria, still seen today.

"I'm breathing . . . Are you breathing too? . . . It's nice, isn't it? It isn't difficult to keep alive, friends just don't -make trouble-or if you must make trouble, make the sort of trouble that's expected. Well, I don't need to tell you that. Good night. If we should bump into one another, recognize me" - A Man for All Seasons
A man for all seasons was the 5th mega production and the final play for the pioneering batch of the Department of Theatre studies. The mega production was directly overseen by the late Mrs. Esther Yates. It was a production that was not only a milestone but also paved way for what's to come with the next batch of 3rd years.
Director: Late Mrs Esther Yates
Asst. Directors: Rajarshi Banerjee and Shannon Court

Oliver Twist. The first musical performed by the Pioneering batch and coincidentally one of their last two class productions as students of the Department of Theatre Studies. These students were the very same ones that had the distinct opportunity to participate in an exchange with Liverpool Hope University in the UK. Having watched WestEnd musicals in London and with Late Professor Esther Yates as their mentor, it was truly a special play.
