The people who trigger your anger don't create it—they reveal it. Like the monk who discovered the boat was empty, we often realize that our reactions come from within, not from others. Every difficult person becomes an opportunity to understand ourselves more deeply.

You cannot always control what happens around you, but you can choose how you respond. The calmer your mind becomes, the less power others have over your peace. True freedom begins when you stop reacting and start understanding.

Nothing in life truly belongs to us.

Not success.
Not love.
Not pain.

Everything arrives for a season, teaches us something, and eventually moves on.

Peace begins when we stop trying to own what was only ever meant to be experienced.

Why Does the Soul Remain Hungry? | Rumi’s Wisdom

We spend years polishing our image, protecting our identity, and perfecting the mask we present to the world. Yet the soul remains empty because it cannot be nourished by appearances. Rumi reminds us that true fulfillment begins only when the false self falls away and the heart returns to its original nature.

This reflection is an original meditation inspired by Rumi’s timeless teachings on love, truth, and the journey within.

Inspired by the teachings and spirit of Jalal ad-Din Rumi. This is an original creative interpretation, not a direct historical quotation.

The smartest person in the room is not the one trying to prove how brilliant they are. It is the one who is learning from everyone else.

This can be a challenge for highly educated professionals. Many have spent years getting ahead by demonstrating how smart they are - again and again.

That habit works in school.
It can backfire in leadership.

Before you speak, pause.
Take a breath.
Ask yourself: “Why am I making this point at this time?”

If the answer is to help others, to move the conversation forward, or to make a difference, go for it!

If the answer is to prove how much you know, it is better to say nothing.

Great leaders do not need to show how smart they are. Their impact is reflected in how much the people around them grow.

Life is good.

PLEASE READ THIS TEXT

Do not look at the image while reading.

Did this clock have Arabic numbers or Roman numerals?
What did the Roman numeral for ten look like?
What did the Roman numeral for four look like?

Did you picture IV?

If you did, you are like most people.

Now look at the clock.
The Roman numeral for four is IIII.

Not all—but the vast majority of clocks and watches with Roman numerals use IIII, not IV.

Most people who own these watches—and look at them every day, sometimes for decades—never notice.

The learning point:
We often do not see what is there.
We see what we think is supposed to be there.

A common mistake leaders make when a team member struggles is saying:
“I assumed someone at this level would know how to do this.”

In life, be careful with assumptions.
You may think you are seeing IV…
when you are actually seeing IIII.

Life is good.
