Manipal Law School, Bengaluru, MAHE- Bengaluru successfully hosted MILANA 2025 – Emerging Trends in Construction Law on 13 December 2025, bringing together judges, academicians, practitioners, and students for a day of rigorous dialogue and interdisciplinary exchange.

The event opened with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by an inspiring welcome by Prof Venkataraghavan Ramadurai and insights from the Chief Guest, Dr. Dinesh Hegde, District Judge and Director, Arbitration & Conciliation Centre, Bengaluru, who spoke on contemporary challenges in construction adjudication and arbitration.

Two thought-provoking academic panel discussions examined the future of construction law education, focusing on the integration of technology, industry-academia collaboration, curriculum innovation, and experiential learning. A key highlight was the inauguration of CLAFI (Construction Law and ADR Forum of India), a pioneering professional forum established by MLS alumni and students to bridge the gap between legal and technical expertise in construction.

Interactive roundtables, student-led discussions on technology and law, and an engaging myth-buster session on gender stereotypes in construction law added vibrancy to the conclave.

MILANA 2025 reaffirmed MLS Bengaluru’s commitment to advancing construction law scholarship through dialogue, innovation, and community building.

We are delighted to share that Manipal Law School, Bengaluru was represented at the closing conference of the Future Proofing Human Rights project, “Thicker Notions of Human Rights Accountabilities,” held from 19th to 22nd November 2025 at Hoek 38, Brussels, Belgium.

Our faculty member, Professor Dr. Ella Gorian, delivered a thought-provoking presentation titled “Big Tech and Human Rights: Rethinking Accountability.” Her paper explored emerging trends in the corporate responsibility of Big Tech companies in the age of Artificial Intelligence, highlighting the evolving challenges and the need for stronger human rights-based frameworks.

Constitution Day Celebration – Essay Writing Competition

Manipal Law School, Bengaluru, is hosting an Essay Writing Competition in honour of National Constitution Day, celebrated on 26 November 2025.

The theme of the competition is “Freedom of Speech and Expression in the Digital Age.” The theme aims to emphasise the importance of safeguarding constitutional freedoms in our communication as it evolves and rallies in increasingly complex digital spaces.

Submissions (2000–2500 words) are open to all (individual participation) and must be submitted by 22 January 2026. The submissions must be sent to [email protected] as a Word/ PDF doc. The file name should be 'Essay_Constitution Day_Full Name of the Author' (e.g. Essay_Constitution Day_Jane Doe), and the subject line must be 'Essay Competition _ Freedom of Speech and Expression in the Digital Age'.

Attractive cash prizes of ₹10,000, ₹7,500, and ₹5,000 will be awarded to the top three entries.

Field Visit

On 5th November 2025, students of Manipal Law School, Bengaluru visited the Open Prison in Devanahalli. The visit was organised by the Legal Services Clinic as part of the five-day workshop titled “Prison Administration and Reforms in India: Understanding the Contemporary Challenges and Legal Framework”. The workshop sought to provide students with an introduction to the systemic problems concerning prisons in India. The workshop sessions were conducted by Advocate Basawa Prasad, a practitioner with eight years of litigation experience, primarily in the field of criminal law.

Clinical legal education is a vital aspect of legal education. The Legal Services Clinic at MLS aims to integrate students' classroom engagements with experiential learning. This visit aimed to achieve this by providing students with an opportunity to observe firsthand the status of reformative approaches to punishment.

We are pleased to share that Manipal Law School, Bengaluru was represented at the Society of Legal Scholars Symposium on “Empowering Equal Opportunities and AI Literacy in Global Legal Education”, held on 5 November 2025 at the University of Reading, UK.

Our faculty member, Professor Dr. Ella Gorian, presented a paper titled “GenAI and the Digital Divide in Indian Legal Education: Focus on Marginalised Communities.” The presentation examined how generative AI technologies are reshaping legal learning in India and highlighted the urgent need to bridge structural digital inequalities that disproportionately affect students from marginalised social groups.
The session sparked meaningful conversations on access, equity, and the future of AI-driven pedagogy, issues that lie at the heart of Manipal Law School’s commitment to inclusive and future-ready legal education.

We had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Srinjoy Banerjee CIPP(E), CIPM, FIP, from LexOrbis for an engaging guest lecture at Manipal Law School, Bengaluru, for the LL.M. batch.

Mr. Banerjee shared deep insights into the evolving domain of Intellectual Property Rights and Data Privacy Laws, bridging the gap between academic understanding and real-world legal practice. His session shed light on how IP frameworks adapt to the rapid pace of technological advancement and innovation.

Manipal Law School, Bengaluru Intra-Debate 2025 🏛️✨

On 16th October 2025, Manipal Law School successfully hosted its Intra-Debate Competition 2025, a platform where intellect met eloquence and ideas clashed to shape powerful discourse. The event featured intense rounds of debate, with participants demonstrating exceptional reasoning, clarity, and persuasive skill on a range of contemporary topics.

Serving as the selection round for the official MLS Debate Team, the competition provided an excellent opportunity for students to refine their critical thinking, articulation, and teamwork — key traits for excelling at national-level debate tournaments.

The success of this event was made possible through the invaluable guidance of our Faculty Convenor, Dr. Sahana Reddy, and the dedicated efforts of our Convenors, Shubham Rao Moyila and Harsh*tha Reddy, along with our Co-Convenors, Aashish Sathvik, Riya Nair, Urvi Shetty, Selva Nandhidha M., and Sahil Ahmed.

A heartfelt note of appreciation to our judges for their insightful evaluations, and to all our volunteers and participants whose enthusiasm and dedication ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
