IEEE UVCE PES conducted Electroduction: Gateway to Practical Electronics, a hands-on introductory workshop on Basic Electronics. The main aim of the workshop was to introduce the participants to the world of practical electronics and also to raise an interest in them towards the field.

The workshop started with an introductory session on why prototyping skill is important and the scope of electronics in the present day scenario. This was followed by an introduction to the basics of electronic components and few circuits were built and demonstrated to the participants. The workshop then concluded with explaining the participants about our monthly challenge 'Voltorb' and how solving challenges can make one better at engineering prototypes.

NaviGate

IEEE UVCE Power & Energy Society, IEEE UVCE Power Electronics Society and IEEE UVCE Yantrik organised an orientation program, NaviGate where freshers were briefed about Societies of IEEE UVCE PES, IEEE UVCE PELS and IEEE UVCE Yantrik SIG.

The event started at 6:00 PM and two Societies of IEEE UVCE PES, IEEE UVCE PELS and IEEE UVCE Yantrik gave a short presentation. The presentation was followed by an Q&A session, where the freshers clarified all their doubts. Students were also given links to join PES community and Yantrik Forum on Telegram.

An interesting Online treasure hunt was conducted where participants needed to find the answers to them. The clues were placed at different posts on official instagram handle of IEEE UVCE, IEEE UVCE PES, IEEE UVCE Yantrik and also on telegram channels of PES and Yantrik. The questions were based on basics of electrical, electronics and robotics. Answers were collected through the Google forms.

Winners:
1) Sujay Vikram, 1st year, ECE
2) Deepak, 1st year, CSE
3) Veeksha S G, 1st year, EEE
4) Uday Karthik, 1st year, EEE
5) Nitin A Reddy, 1st year, EEE

Voltorb - December 2021

Voltorb is a monthly contest where a given problem statement has to be solved by building a feasible solution in the form of an electronic circuit either by simulation or a physical circuit.

This month question of Voltorb surprised the participants to come up with a gift drop box that collects the gift and indicates the presence of it.

The solution approach will be uploaded on our GitHub repository soon.

Voltorb - November 2021

Voltorb is a monthly contest where a given problem statement has to be solved by building a feasible solution in the form of an electronic circuit either by simulation or a physical circuit.

This month's Voltorb was based on building an alert system for a military submarine placed in the ocean. Participants were challenged to think in multiple ways so as to protect the submarine from any danger by building a system which not just alerts but also provides the position of the enemy and many other functionalities.

The solution approach will be uploaded on our GitHub repository soon.

Voltorb - October 2021

Voltorb is a monthly contest where a given problem statement has to be solved by building a feasible solution in the form of an electronic circuit either by simulation or a physical circuit.

This month's Voltorb went one step further with the difficulty level.
The problem statement required the participants to develop a speed control system for an aircraft.

The solution approach will be uploaded on our GitHub repository soon.

Voltorb - September 2021

Voltorb is a monthly contest in which the given problem statement is to be solved where both online and offline mode of the solution is expected.

This month's Voltorb challenged the participants to build an electronic piano. The ones with musical touch would have found it amazing to build one for themselves.

ArduiKNOW Workshop

IEEE UVCE PES along with BMSCE IEEE PES organized a 2 - Day Workshop 'ArduiKNOW' on Embedded Systems. Mr. Anand M, an alumnus of UVCE from the batch of 2019 ECE mentored the workshop.

Day 1 was an introductory session on Embedded Systems and Arduino. Some of the key concepts like Programing an Arduino, interfacing digital and analog sensors were covered during the session.
The workshop was resumed on the second day with tutorials on interfacing motors, motor drivers and display units. The second session was followed by a few hands on projects that were carried out during the session for better understanding of the subject.

After the completion of the workshop,a problem statement was released to test their understanding for which the participants had to build and submit the solution in 24 hours.

Successful submissions were awarded with a Project Completion Certificate and Participation Certificates was given to all the attendees of the workshop.

Date: 4th September to 6th September.

Voltorb - July 2021

Voltorb is a monthly contest where a problem statement has to be solved using an electronic circuit. In the past few months, Voltorb has been completely online.

The latest iteration of Voltorb aimed at making students strong and confident with their basics. The problem statement involved a simple LED circuit. It revolved around a farm and encouraged the use of a potato instead of a battery.

The solution approach will be uploaded on our GitHub repository soon (link in bio).

Voltorb - May 2021

This iteration of Voltorb differed slightly from the usual iterations in the number of problem statements: instead of one problem, two problems of different difficulty levels were given.

The first problem was about getting an LED to turn ON and OFF with the given duty cycle. The second one was about automating the lights of a house based on whether people are present or not. Hints were released for the same.

Recycle Pin

IEEE UVCE PES and SIGHT conducted Recycle Pin, on account of PES Day and SIGHT Day. This was a one round event, where the participants had to team up and answer the questions given in the google form. The answer to those questions were places that are part of clean energy revolution. Pinning these places on map and connecting the dots, they obtained an image related to renewable resources. At last, the participants had to describe how the implementation of this form of energy can be improved.
