We were delighted to welcome a team from Wells Fargo India & Philippines to the Institute.

The team, which included EVP & MD - , Senior Vice President and Head of Public Affairs - Nidhi Pratapneni, Vice President and Head of Social Impact and Sustainability (SIS) - Bandana Jha and Senior Manager, SIS Sumona Ganguli, participated in the awards ceremony of the fellowships instituted by Wells Fargo at the Indian Institute of Science.

Four students have been awarded the Wells Fargo M.Tech Fellowships for Women for 2022-23 while eight students have been selected for the IISc-Wells Fargo M.Tech Fellowships for Women for 2022-23.

Wells Fargo is also supporting the Endocrinology Wing at IISc’s Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital.

We were delighted to welcome a leadership team from Manjushree Technopack to the Institute on October 31, 2022.

The team comprised Manjushree Technopack MD & CEO Thimmaiah Napanda, GM Innovation and R&D Navneet Yadav, Manager R&D Ashok P Kumar and Company Secretary Rasmi Ranjan Naik.

Manjushree Technopack will assist IISc in setting up a Center of Excellence (CoE) in plastic recycling and upcycling, under the Department of Materials Engineering, within its premises, headed by Prof. Suryasarathi Bose to promote education and research on recycling of plastics and provide research support to the industry. The CoE aims to bridge the gap between the industrial expectations, requirements and academic research through collaboration between academic research groups at IISc and industry experts at Manjushree Technopack.

We are happy to announce that Kalore Subham Arun has been selected as the inaugural awardee of Prof. T.S. Nagaraj Memorial Research Award for the year 2022. He was feted at the award ceremony held at the institute on November 3, the birthday of Prof. T. S. Nagaraj.

Prof. T.S. Nagaraj Memorial Research Award was instituted in 2022 as a research excellence award in the Department of Civil Engineering by Jyothi Nagaraj (daughter of Prof. T. S. Nagaraj) and her husband, Dr. Srinivas Pravin Sitaram to honour the Late Prof. T. S. Nagaraj, who was an alumni, Professor, and Chairman in the Department of Civil Engineering at IISc,.

The Award is given annually to the most impactful research carried out by a current meritorious PhD student of the Department of Civil Engineering.

We were delighted to welcome our alumna Nirmala Jay Pullur (M.E. (Electrical Communication Engineering) - 1996) back to the Institute on October 22, Saturday. She interacted with the awardees of the seven undergraduate and postgraduate fellowships that she has so generously instituted.

The IISc-Mallika Women M.Tech. Fellowship for 2022-23, instituted to support female students in various M.Tech. programs, were awarded to Reddy Vari Jyothsna (Electrical Engineering), Kandula Hema Siva Naga Lakshmi (Electrical Communications Engineering), Maranani Varalakshmi (Electrical Communications Engineering) and Jagtap Siddhi Shrikant Sujata (Computer Science and Automation). The Mallika Women in Science Fellowship for 2022-23, instituted to support female undergraduate students, have been awarded to Akte Isha Santosh Kumar and Shreya Hirenbhai Pithva.


The Jay Pullur Memorial Fellowships for B.Tech students in Mathematics & Computing, established by Mrs. Nirmala Jay Pullur in fond memory of her husband Mr. Jay Pullur (Founder of Pramati Technologies), has been awarded to RK Shishir (All India Rank - 1 in JEE).

We were happy to welcome a team from Toyo Ink India, led by their Group CEO Takashima Satoru and Toyo Ink India’s Chairman & Managing Director Naotoshi Nakamura, to the Institute on October 10. Toyo Ink, under their Corporate Social Responsibility Program, is supporting the Petrology Lab at IISc. We look forward for this collaboration with Toyo Ink India to grow in the coming years.

The team, comprising Dr. Shravan Subramanyam, Managing Director, Wipro GE Healthcare; Girish Raghavan, VP - Engineering, GE Healthcare; Uma Parameswaran and Surekha Sailesh, interacted with the students who have been awarded the fellowships instituted by GE Healthcare at IISc. Karan R. Gujarati and Arijit K. Mishra have been awarded the GE Healthcare M.Tech Fellowships for 2021-22 while Aastha Vijay Balapande, Aditi Prasad, Laxmi Choudhary, and Soni Kumari have been awarded the IISc-Wipro GE Healthcare M.Tech Women Fellowships for 2022-23.

We are delighted to announce that Abhinav Raghunath has been awarded the Siemens Healthineers M.Tech Fellowship in Bioengineering for 2022-23. Abhinav will investigate immunological and hematological responses to specific diseases to facilitate risk assessment and early intervention.

A team from the Center for Innovation in Diagnostics at Siemens Healthineers, comprising Dr. Manohar Kollegal, Dr. Nivedita Mitra, and Dr. Rangarajan Sampath, and a team from IISc, led by Dr. Siddharth Jhunjhunwala, defined the broad scope of the investigation.

The fellowship program was instituted as part of the recently announced collaboration between the Indian Institute of Science and Siemens Healthineers.

We were happy to welcome the leadership team of the Sony India Software Centre to the Institute on Tuesday. Sony India Software Centre has established seven fellowships for women students of M.Tech programs in broad area of computing sciences at IISc.

The team, which included Managing Director Masayuki Toriumi, Senior Vice President Ravikumar Krishnamoorthy, Head of Software Architecture Division Yoji Kawamoto, Senior Director of Planning and Control Yoichi Oda, Senior Director – HR & Admin Vinutha Raja and Administrations Head Muthuraj Adiga, interacted with this year’s awardees. This is the second batch of students to be awarded the fellowships. The 2022-23 awardees of the Sony India Software Centre M.Tech Women Fellowships are Preeti Sharma, Eleena Gupta, Madepalli Haritha, Kirtee Mishra, Athira PB, Sameeksha Singh and Laxmi Ojha.
